According to a Belgium source, Microsoft plans to revise the Xbox 360 Core system with a superior version without any change in pricing. The new entry-level system, called "Xbox 360 Arcade: Just Play," will still lack a hard disk drive, but will be packaged with a 256MB memory card. Its namesake comes from the fact that the new system will come with five Xbox Live Arcade games. Additionally, the new Core system will come with a wireless controller, replacing the current wired one. The Xbox 360 Premium system will be tagged with the words "Go Pro," while the Xbox 360 Elite will carry the words "Go Big."

The news comes from a Microsoft source in Belgium, who sent the following email to Gamernode:
The embargo just lifted on some news I got earlier. At an as of yet unknown date, the Core will be completely phased out and repackaged as the 'Xbox Arcade: Just Play' pack. It will come with 5 games (I assume Uno and Pac-Man are two since I believe I saw them on the box art shown), a 256 mb memory card, and will be priced at 279. I'm not 100% sure about this part, but my notes say it will have an HDMI exit, but no cable in the box.

So it's the Core system with a 256MB SD card and a Wireless controller?

So now the only reason to get the Premium is for the backward compability and the HDD.

stupid, I hope they'll change the fact that it will either blow up in my face and not cause the red ring crap...

This is why I wont buy a 360. M$ are ********, keep changing things making most people buy the console all over again. Next you will hear M$ updated the software on the console to support a different media type for new upcoming games, but "unfortunately" old 360 consoles wont be able to play the new games on the "new" media because they wont be able to read it properly

The M$ marketing people don't care unless you are paying new cash into their coffers, personally if i once again decide to buy an xbox ill be waiting for the built in hd-dvd drive revision because there is no doubt that that one is scheduled for release when Sony decided to price their console reasonably.

That's not true the way I see it.
Microsoft are enhancing their "Core" package at no extra cost to consumers.

Now where would you put a SD in an XBOX360?

I think you will find its a standard memory card LOL

No extra cost if you do not own a 360 currently.
If you own an original 360 you will have to pay again to get the "superior" core version.

Everyone complains about MS doing stuff like this, but almost every hardware vendor on the planet does the same thing. Ships a product and then a few months later updates it something that is "new and improved" so people shell out more money.

Since they are a "business" and their goal is to "make money", I would say this is a reasonable marketting strategy.

I personally, do not own any console systems.

but alot of consumers feel shafted. 256mb wont hold many game saves of some of these games on here. I like the arcade games that come with it, but is it on a disc? the Core needs to go and the premium needs to to be the core while the Elite, stays elite. stupid

Microsoft makes you use their own memory cards for the 360?

How cruel and primitive. The 360 should have a multi-memory stick reader just like the PS3.

Oh noes, a new version of a product offers something the old version doesn't? Those bitches... how dare they do that!
Does that mean the Ipod 5.5G offer more than the 5G too? Oh damn... And the Intel E6350 more than the E6320 and this one more than the E6300? OH DAMNIT, THEY TOTALLY TRICKED US!!! SUE SUE SUE!

Integrated HD-DVD,,,,,:toast:

I think the newer ones already ship with a better cooler, just like the ones you sent in for repair.

dont have a 360 just hear alot of bad things about it hence why i got a ps3

Dont take my statement out of context. The point I was getting at is clear. It has nothing todo with them revising the console, but more because their not doing the reasonable thing of offering some kind of trade package alongside with it where existing core owners can swap their current controllers for wireless and the memory card they got with their package for the larger one. Nobody expects it to be totally free, but M$ should make it more accessible.

Its not as reasonable as you think if you think about it. Seriously what are they going to do with all of those wired controllers that are turned back in theres a waste of a product right there and then people will blame Microsoft and sue them for not recycling lol
