Minimalist Overclock With Nvidia inspector

Let's say I overclock my GPU (already know the stable clocks and voltage) with Nvidia profile inspector, then create a shortcut and put it in the startup folder and then delete the profile inspector completely. Will the overclock apply itself when I log in? What about when I update the drivers?

The second thing that bothers me is that I can't seem to overvolt my GTX 1080 with profile inspector. What's with that? Am I missing something?

NV Inspector will take the base values from NVCP if I recall correctly.

So it will depend on how you update your drivers whether settings will remain. Clean installs will reset all NVinspector settings as well, unless you make your own separate profiles. Better off to OC through Afterburner or something, as its a separate hook from the drivers.

NVInspector is primarily used not for OC, but for separate or more exotic settings per game/application.

Ok thanks I didn't know that. Do you by any chance know why is the voltage control locked?

Because NI does not fully support Pascal. Voltage control for Pascal is in the form of 0 to 100% and usually offers a whopping 0.031V increase in voltage at 100%. :/
