Mobo randomly increases ram and cache voltages

I have set 1.66v vdimm ram voltage setting in the bios., and it will read out correctly at about 1.684 but - the motherboard increases the voltage once in awhile to like 1.81v to the ram! The only way I can get it to set it back is a system shutdown, rebooting does not change it back. I've tried flashing the bios and a cmos battery rtc clear, and these things do not fix the problem.
I've had this happen before also about a year ago but it stopped doing it. Started happening again. The other thing is it sets my ring/cache voltage .05v~.1v higher than usuall. ASUS Z97 Pro Wifi AC motherboard bios 3503 latest.
 
This is with 1.150 ring voltage should read 1.17 and the ram voltage 1.66 should read 1.684 . It just randomly decides whenever it wants to to increase these both at any time by .05 more than usual, then the volts stay there. Until a system shutdown, if I reboot the volts will still stay the same. Then it will still be overvolted higher than usual.

I fixed the problem with a bios update , the bios must have become corrupted from overclocking so much, it is using the same newest bios as before.

Failed boots can increase voltages to VDIMM and IMC/SoC.
This is what caused the ASUS AM5 boards to explode CPUs, I'm unsure if other brands do this too.

The next cold boot it'll try again - incorrect BIOS settings can cause this to loop a few times as well.
Definitely replace the CMOS battery - it can be the cause of the failed boots in the first place, if the settings are corrupted.

Oh if these are just blips in software readings while in windows, it may just be sensor inaccuracy or shifts in your powersupply/VRM (especially their temperatures) - but if they raise and stay there, it's the failed boot thing.


Many boards run higher than you set, as they're simply not accurate enough for perfection - they work in steps, so (made up values) you might ask for 1.03v when it can only do voltages on 0.2v steps so it has to jump to 1.04v
Other boards intentionally run higher to help counter Vdroop, either to aid in overclocking or to counter a cheap design.
My asus boards run a higher CPU voltage than they should (resulting in lower boost clocks, if left stock), and my aorus boards overvolt the RAM by 0.5v at all times.

Oh, use HWinfo. No idea how good Aida's sensor readings are - I know HWmonitor is utter trash and gives false readings all the time, Aida64 may do so as well.
Some variance is utterly normal, the voltages 'pulse' so they wobble and the sensors are getting an average of that - and the sensors themselves aren't NASA level equipment, so they measure it in steps as well

i had a similar issue with a Z390 Extreme4 where my VCCSA/IO started at the value that i've set and you could just watch it in HWInfo where it rises from ~ 1.1V to 1.6V until the PC crashed.
had a bent pin in the socket (board was used from amazon)

That'll do it
The sense pins say "we should be receiving 1.5v (VID), but the power pins (voltage) shows 1.45v (or anything, even 0v) so boost the voltage please' and you get the cycle of doom
