Is there any sort of things I can do to modify newer Adrenaline driver to work with HD 4850? I tried to use FLEM driver modder but it didn't work. Any driver modder here? @StefanM do you have any idea how this might be possible?

The last driver that worked is old Catalyst 13.4 beta and 13.1 WHQL from 2013. I would like to have an updated Crossfire profile to work with newer games.

This is just to test driver modding I already have newer graphics card.

Does the renaming to a crossfire friendly name not work any more? My Crossfire rig in my sig has been in the closet for a while now, because the damn thing draws too much electricity and will actually dim the lights that are on the same electrical fuse....lol

Try Cat 13.9. IIRC, there was a reddit thread with an updated MS catalog driver mix as well as a 2017 FirePro mix, but that may have been for HD5/6k cards.

I forgot about the trick. Guess I'll try how it goes then. Dang a couple of HD 4870X2 will surely suck slightly less power than quadfire GTX480 lol.

Odd when I search for latest driver only 13.4 beta is the latest. Thanks for the link.

Unfortunately support for TeraScale and other legacy GPUs has been removed from Crimson and beyond.

Microsoft offers a driver from November 2015 (109 MB = 64 bit)

Since ATI/AMD uses no version check in their runtimes, you can extract these from recent Adrenalin and copy them into applications' folders.

Example 1:
Run GPUCapsViewer and check OpenGL support
quit application
copy recent atioglxx.dll into folder of GPUCapsViewer and re-check OpenGL support

Example 2:
Run OpenGL Extensions Viewer and check OpenGL support
quit application
copy recent atio6axx.dll into folder of OpenGL Extensions Viewer and re-check OpenGL support

DirectX is pickier and i don't know by heart which runtimes would have to be copied.

You cannot use atikmdag.sys from Crimson/Adrenalin, this file is the actual kernel mode driver!

@steen That driver is only for Windows 7 and it won't work in Windows 10

@StefanM Both of the examples you show won't work it will give an error when booting up or won't show any OpenGL version at all.

You're installing it wrong, then. ;) Unpack the archive & install via device manager. Then install Catalyst control panel. You can subsequently use the control panels for the MS catalog drivers if you wish.

It worked but there isn't much difference between 13.4 and 13.9. I still don't know how to get Crossfire Profile from newer driver to older ones. Older titles prior to the driver date works great in CF but not after. GTA V for example didn't work renaming exe and adding profile don't work either.

I dusted an old rig with TeraScale2 architecture (Zacate HD 6320)
Catalyst 15.11 seems to be the last driver for legacy GPUs

I found some slightly newer runtimes from August 2016 that still work

I'm afraid AMD made a break at that time and hard coded runtimes for GCN architecture afterwards :(
