Hello everyone.
Starting a few months ago my younger brother contacted me about an odd issue he is having with his PC (that I built for him probably 3 years ago).
When he is using it the monitor will randomly go black. The light on it stays blue and doesn't go orange like it was disconnected, it just goes black. No noises or anything when this happens.
However, when it does happen he says that the little hard drive activity light on his PC will go from the normal blue to a solid orange, like it's "loading". At this point, holding the power button down to shut it off does absolutely nothing. His only resolve is to pull the power cord from the PC or flip the switch on the PSU. This happens at totally random times and I checked event viewer and found nothing.
So, is it it the video card going out or would you blame the PSU going bad? Or neither?
Like I said, PC was built 3 years ago.
He doesn't game really at all.
