Monitor shows color "artifacts" around moving objects

Hey!
First post here, hope I got the subforum right as I don't know whether this is a GPU or monitor related issue.

So, the problem is: my monitor shows green/purple artifacts around moving objects. When I look around in a game or watch a video, there are these green/purple traces around objects.

The interesting thing is: These traces aren't always there. They seem to appear after a certain amount of time has passed, then they go away again. This led me to think that temperatures could be the problem. However, my max CPU Core temp after an hour of Prime95 was 68°C. As far as I know, that shouldn't cause any problems, right?

Same with the GPU, haven't done a Furmark test but temperatures don't go past 70°C.

Thanks in advance, looking forward to suggestions!

Specs:
GPU: Asus DCUII GTX660Ti
Mobo: MSI Z68 G43 (G3)
CPU: I5 2500k @ 4.6 Ghz
Ram: 8GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3
Monitor: HannsG HS233H3B ( Connected via DVI)

Try replacing the cable if you have a spare.

Don't have a spare DVI lying around atm, the thing I did try was to exchange the DVI cable with an HDMI one. 120hz didn't work that way obviously, but the artifacts seemed to be gone.
Would that mean that the DVI cable is broken?

get newest nvidia driver perhaps.

Have you tried booting using the intel gpu to see if its a monitor issue ?
