Hi guys,

I need a replacement motherboard for commercial digital printing machine ( prints designs on wall tiles ). Which has 6 PCs connected to each other for printing purpose. Configuration is as following

Xeon E3-1276 v3 CPU
2x8GB UDIMM DDR3 non-ecc RAM
Quadro K2000 GPU
Custom Fujitsu motherboard based on Intel C226 chipset.

printing machine came with fujitsu workstations. Few months ago one of the workstation died, they have propriety power connector for their motherboard so I replaced the motherboard with Gigabyte's Z97-D3H, it works fine. But now, I am thinking about long term reliability. Is it good enough to use desktop motherboard in this environment? The priniting machine is on 24x7. However point to be noted is that even they haven't provided ECC RAM as default, so there is no real purpose of getting server motherboard imo. Now there is another workstation which has failed and now I am here to get some opinions before purchasing new motherboard. Please advice.

a decent mid/upper range desktop motherboard runs fine in a 24/7 environment. get a quality power suppy and a ups for the machine and it'll run for years and years.

Thanks. I am going with Gigabyte GA-Z97-D3H again. Hope they will last long enough.

With all the gimmicks motherboard vendors put into consumer hardware, they should last enernity, on paper at least.

Their "ultra durable" series is solid imo. However, running one for 24/7 is different story. One of the workstation whose motherboard I replaced with Z97-D3H around 8 months ago, works fine 24/7.
There are some workstation and server motherboard available for same price as Z97-D3H. Like ASUS P9D-X and Intel S1200V3RPS, but they have limited connectivity ports so I am gonna stick with Gigabyte's board.
