Basically your going to "Ghost" the drive over to the other...

Nortan Ghost - Well I purchased this, but it works for me.. Uh lets see if anyone knows a free version

And yea, then you format the HDD to a NTFS, it takes a few gb to create the partition. What you have is normal

So that Norton Ghost program will move everything over to it? Can I do that while I am using the OS on my 250gb?

Its a DOS program, you will have to boot it off a CD when your system is posting, like I said I am not to sure of any other software that can do it, possible there is one you can do while on Windows, but if your OS is running, there are files that are running and wont be able to copy over due to its being used... so Nortan Ghost does it through dos when windows is NOT running.

With these Ghosting software you can change the partition size... create a new partition... anything...

and yes, you will have exactly EVERYTHING from your old HDD to the new one.

Sweet. I'll go get that later today.

I will probably grab acronis migrate easy 7. I bet Ghost is like 200$ anyway..

I was just going to suggest Acronis, it is so much better than Ghost.

I bought Acronis True Image, well worth the $50. Not only do you get all the backup functions in the OS, but you also get the bootable media builder, so you can boot to the CD on any computer and use all the backup/cloning functions.

The Disk Director Suite is also well worth the $50, and the best part is, if you have both Disk Director and True Image installed, you can use the bootable media builder to create a bootable CD with the entire functionality of both. A handly little tool.

Will do :) I have a 1gb flash drive, will that work? I have nothing on it so I figured that might be an option. If not my mom's computer has a CD burner. I would get a burner drive but I am buying a 940 tonight

Damn you, I want to get my 940 :banghead: Soon I will...

you should be able to put it on your USB stick, hopefully your Mobo can boot of USB devices... if it can your flying in colors!

Oh I guess I should set that up lol its only 20% done so it's gonna be awhile.

Ghost. It just got done too.

Get seatools, you ahve a seagate drive an dit will actually work on any drive. Plus its free.

OK I got ghost.. Now what? I have it installed but I have no idea how to get this on my flash drive to move everything on my 250gig to my 750.. Someone please help

just tried out ghost, and it says "Master boot record not found press ctr+alt+delt to restart"

trying acronis now

Acronis Migrate Easy. So much easier, and you don't have to use a flash drive. Hook up both HDD and run the program after download/install!

I posted this in my thread. if you have a answer please go post in MY thread so i dont steal shadow folds thread

Ok, tried out ghost, didn't work. it was a complete fail.

Tried acronis, got better results but i cant boot from the drive because i had it installed with a raid setup. so anytime i use the 7200.11 drive i have the option for intel raid which boots the system but if i choose the 7200.11 it wont boot. same thing when i move it all to 7200.12 except i dont get a intel raid option after the clone.

suggestions?
