I am using a fx8120 with msi fx990ud65

the vrm is so hot that i had to put a old cpu fan on it. it can go to 65c under OCCT. even no load the vrm is around 50c
however if I enable cpu phase to APS mode, the vrm can be very cool when no load around 32c.

Room temp at 25c

I read some blog regarding MSI that vrm can easily fail. so I wonder should I keep the APS mode off, so all vrm is working thus lower load for each vrm chip, or should I trun on APS mode and 2 or 4 vrm is working when cpu has no load, and 6 or 8 is working when cpu has load, thus lower vrm temps.

MSI is known for easily burn vrm chips.

please give me some advise

Thanks in advance

will there be any problem with the vrm chip, would I increase the chance to burn the chip. Just worry since MSI has so many reports for failing vrm chips.

As long as you have proper airflow on the vrm they wont burnout/fail. Think positive about it,as you already got a fan on it.
