Hi All can any one help ? I have a MSI B450 Gaming Plus Board was working fine when turned off started up next morning and in wont turn on. Briefly for a micro second the red light showing CPU and the lights Gaming Plus light up and fan spins but then its dead. If I pull the power cord out and try again does same thing. I tried to update bios with a USB and the Flash button on the board but it wont run. Are there any schematics or can some point me in any direction of what to test. I Do xbox repairs as a hobby so have a very basic knowledge on repairing stuff but never worked on a motherboard. I have checked no shorts on the 12v & 5v power rails. Any help or guidance or where to go to check would be appreciated. I have ordered a new board so this is just for learning purposes so nothing lost nothing gained thanks.

What is the brand of your PSU? Did you remove the battery and reinsert it after about 3 minutes?

Yes removed battery waited 10+ mins then put back in still would not update Bios. Usb did flash once then nothing. PSU is fine as I have a spare brand new one that I tried too (which I had to use for 2 weeks when I RMA a broken PSU).

How many DIMMs on the board? Try with only 1 DIMM in either slot A2 recommend or in B2.

Also look for the clear CMOS jumper on the board and short that for few seconds.

Other things to try is reseat the CPU and try powering on again.

Only one 1 DIMM tried with and without , CPU already taken out and put back in. Didnt see a CMOS jumper will check if it got one.

Cleared CMOS with jumper still didnt start, Tried to load new bios from usb still didnt load it. Will the board start up ie power supply run without a CPU installed ? as All I get is a quick flash of CPU light, board lights and power fan spin. All be it for a split second.

There is a short of some kind, what doesn't make sense is how it happened. What is the brand of your PSU? One of my first PCs started showing this behaviour and it turned out to be the PSU that was only 2 weeks old but it was a brand called Ultra which is why I have a Corsair HX PSU now.

1 is a corsair 600 (about 2 years old) other is a Ace 850 watt, (6 months old) both do the same thing which must be mean either board issue or CPU just not sure what But it does same thing with out the cpu in. Will it start at least run with cpu out ?
