i think you got bootleneck, not sure which cpu/gpu is the problem, and i think you better use stable win10, stick with 1803 is best, i wont updgrade 1903 until they fix lot of troubleshoot..

Get a HWINFO64 screenshot, we need full laptop specs, what card was in it previously?

We need specs of the laptop power supply too

What are the room temperatures this laptop is being used in?

You have no "bottleneck" on those games with that configuration. Lets get over the facts first:

1. On the official website your laptop CPU specifications are as follows "3rd generation Intel® Core i7/i5 Processor"
2. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive System Requirements (Minimum) are "CPU: Intel® Core™ 2 Duo E6600" and "DX9 compatible GPU"
3. Overwatch System Requirements (Minimum) are "CPU: Intel Core i3 or AMD Phenom X3 8650" and "Nvidia GeForce GTX 460"
4. Install a fresh copy of Windows 10 1607 64-bit. That is the best version. Newer versions have fake performance degradation introduced to anyone running on any CPU older than 2019.
5. You should not have any problems if you install Windows 7 or Windows 10 1607. I do not understand why do you "need" Windows 10 on that configuration, to be exact.
6. Power consumption of your GTX 980M is 100 Watt.
7. Power consumption of your previous GTX 675M is also 100 watt.
8. Conclusion: There is no power supply "bottleneck" and there is no "CPU bottleneck". "Bottleneck" depends primarily on what games you play and is manifested in the game not the hardware itself. GPUs are designed to work with a multitude of CPUs. There is no such thing as compatibility issues between a CPU and GPU. It all depends on how the game is built.

Therefore, your issue may be in: either those games have bad code, or there is overheating in your motherboard or CPU. A good thing would be to use HWINFO (32 or 64 does not matter), and use it to record the sensor status in the range of 1 hour of gameplay to see what components of your laptop work on what temperatures. We shall see else, after that. Good luck!

GeForce GTX 675M

I think problem is in cpu, overheating. when changed gpu applied new thermal paste to cpu. Uninstalled latest update, got better.

Have you read through this thread here?? Its the 'The Official MSI GT60/70 970m/980m Upgrade Thread' on notebookcheck - so maybe you missed something out. It could be something simple like a bios update or something. So the combination of your GT60 and the 980M clearly works.

maybe you need to tweak the fan speeds or use better thermal paste - Ive even seen a mention of Liquid Metal being used on the last page.

Yes i checked this post. The only thing i didnt try was vBios modification. Not sure that i need to do it. I was able to install drivers, so no point of vBios mod.

Sometimes a bigger brick is needed

Check for a laptop bios update too

The idea of the Vbios mod is that some laptop manufacturers whitelist only the parts that it rolls out of the factory with which means that if you were to swap something out that the laptop didnt originally roll off the line with then it wouldn't work.

But you were able to install drivers and use the 980 so im not quite sure... My original opinion being that the 980 were supposed to be used in desktop replacement units or laptops designed with a good few ounces in copper heatpiping to keep things cool. Your laptop doesnt seem to have enough ounces in the copper department and the heat from the CPU and GPU combined is too much for the current cooling system - but then again. there are folks with the same laptop running with the 980 so that theory is kinda out the window too. but hell yeah your CPU is 100% throttling at 100c

What thermal paste you using? Make sure the heatsinks are screwed in properly and making full contact with the CPU and GPU as they are meant to be.

It could be the 980 might be faulty if all else fails.

Using AG silver thermal grease 3.8w/mK

Well that could be part of the problem. Thats junk. Go buy some Arctic MX-2 or MX-4. 100% guarantee temperatures will drop and might even stop your system thermal throttling.

that AG stuff might be good for using with other things that dont create tonnes of heat like other electronics - but this is not a situation for that. I cant find reviews for that ANYWHERE and its pretty cheap.

Go grab some MX-2 or MX-4. its a bit more pricier but it is the absolute BASELINE for tried and tested thermal pastes. dont waste your money on anything else. its 'cheap' as far as decent thermal pastes go and a lot of people have used it for overclocked CPUs and GPUs - its tried and tested by millions of people.

So i fixed temperature issue, now i have max= 80C when playing game, applied too much thermal paste. Now i have problem with directx, it dosnt display 980m gpu. Only integrated card is displayed. Also i installed fresh windows 10 (1607) as adviced Theliel. So far CS:GO and TF2 runs good, have some problems with Overwach.

DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer
Install directx from that link. It should overwrite any corrupt old directx components.
You may need to check laptop bios and see what settings are listed for GPU and integrated GPU. You may be playing off the integrated GPU. I don't know that laptops bios so I can't tell you exactly, but to me it seems the gtx980m is temporarily disabled. Someone here on the forum may now more on where to modify the bios.

But most importantly, did you install Nvidia Drivers?

Additionally, can you describe the problem in Overwatch?
