Hi,
I have an Asus STRIX-R9390X-DC3OC-8GD5-GAMING, after I installed on my new mobo MSI Z87-GD65, it was not detected, neither on the BIOS HW explorer nor the OS Windows 8.1 pro 64bits.

These are the steps I have tried:
Move the GPU board from PCIe x16 slot 2, to 5, then 7.
Tried to downgrade the BIOS to version 1.9.
Tried to upgrade to the latest BIOS 1.C.
Tried windows 7 pro 64 bit.
Tried Windows 10 pro 64 bit.
Also installed this GPU card on a friend PC, it was detected at the first intent, and we get video out from the HDMI connector.

Please help with any idea of what else can I do to solve this problem.

Have u tried another gpu in your MSI board?

Mby it's your mobo that's shoot, bcs ur gpu works in ur friends pc.

take the gpu from your friends pc and test on your motherboard.
or try the hdmi cable from your friend
clear cmos-try this first if you have not already

what happens when you try to start your pc with your gpu?
beeps or lights or fans go on........

and you wrote you tried to up\downgrade your bios with success or just tried?

List your full system spec's, what were you using as a GPU before? How did you remove the old drivers?

PSU powerfull enough?

have you made sure primary Graphics adapter is set to PCIEx16 in Bios? (obvious i know, but 'eh )
are you 100% certain this is a Working GPU?

Update your bios on that motherboard to the latest version and see if it works then. I see you tried... but not sure if the fish was successful?

Do you have another GPU

I had something similar in which the video card fan ran fine but no video and not detected even when forcing EXT PCIE card in BIOS but that mobo had only one PCIEx16

Thank a lot for your suggestions. I already made the BIOS update to the latest version available at MSI web site, version 1.C with ME.
There is no BIOS post with the GPU R9-390X-DC3, but if i pull this gpu from my system and install on other motherboard it works without any issue. Also if I install other GPU on the same slot of my MSI Mobo it also works.

Other member said that could be a compatibility issue between Mobo and GPU. I just opened a support ticket on MSI.

power supply would be my first guess

It's not the power supply...

Anyway, I'd see if there is a bios update available for the gpu and see if that works. But there have been compatibility issues between some cards and boards.. reaching out to msi was a good thing.

Please keep us posted!

Do you know if there is a BIOS update for the GPU R9-390X-DC3 and how to do it? I will look for information on the web
