While the reviews of Radeon RX 5700 and 5700 XT have been published, there were no confirmations or signs of custom designs from AMD's partners of any kind. However, Hardwareluxx, a German tech media, has acquired some slides from MSI about its upcoming line of Navi GPUs. There will be a total of 7 new models, four being RX 5700 XT variants and three for RX 5700. Surprise here is the new branding series for those GPUs. The MECH series is a rebrand of previous Armor series, now with different red and black color combination. Notable addition to design is inclusion of DVI port. Unlike before, we will now get a so called "EVOKE" series, which we don't have details on yet. All we know is that the new cards supposed to arrive with all the custom cards in August.

Is GPP still in effect? Why does that MECH look like a cheap toy? 1999 wants its shroud back... come on.

Never mind the numerous typos in those slides... and the low res MECH logo, the text overlapping the product picture... man. Very poor

Four 5700XT cards, wow.

Is GPP still in effect?
No. After major backlash greens chickened out, complaining that the world wasn't ready to appreciate the greatness brought by dominant manufacturer strong-arming the market.

Yes. GPP may not active in surface, but it is still alive in MSI/ASUS/Gigabyte's heart.

Very much indeed... More pressure being applied, or rather... implied, than ever.

Anybody looking at AMD cards should really go for their dedicated manufacturers.

Umm, is MSI the only firm who can do custom cooling on RX 5700 and 5700 XT?

Waiting for the inevitable variant with a ridiculous Red Dedvil or Aorus cooler...

Such ass kissing firms like Asus and MSI don't need pressure, they can do anything to make their master happy. They embraced the GPP program even before it started.

Let's just hope MSI isn't the first or the only brand to make custom designs or they're be overpriced too

I just have to LOL at some of the anti-Nvidia this, master that comments.

Go back and read the reviews here. Some of the best AMD offerings, even recently, have been done by MSI.

Sure, for me Sapphire is THE number one AMD AIB card seller, but I don’t discount what others can do. Let’s just wait for some reviews when actually released

Of course, but you have to admit there is a striking difference in presentation here compared to the average Nvidia release. This is an Armor with a new color scheme. Not bad in itself, but at the same time at the low end of the stack. And the rest? A name on the list of slide 2

But maybe this was just an early PR blurb gone bad and the real thing is coming.

Possibly you are right. I’m just going to wait and see what MSI actually announces though.

It's just money taking. Asus, MSI, & Gigabyte are always last resort vendors for me. When nothing good from dedicated manufacturers is available.

Were I to be looking for an nvidia card, I'd start with their dedicated manufacturers like EVGA first. Same for AMD, always great service & experience with their dedicated manufacturers like Sapphire.

And financial incentive programs like the GPP are not applicable to them.

So, EVGA is a dedicated manufacturer of Nvidia cards and MSI is not?

For all their exclusive Nvidia work, you’d think they could do something besides woefully unsatisfactory reference PCB’s with minimal VRM and phases. They have a history of cutting corners like that, and then still selling as high performance models.

Let's review;

Is it just me, or does that last line seem like a bad ad pun for p0rn? :wtf: :slap:

Note to MSI; Change that crap. Just sounds dirty and wrong!

Haha, yes I've heard they've had a bit of an RMA nightmare from the mining craze & their anemic construction...

Evga is not my go to company like Sapphire is, but the point I was trying to convey is I first look at companies (or sub-divisions at least) who are dedicated to a single vendor. They usually have more to lose from bad service af they are less diversified.

Hmm, that Mech design literally reminds of me of Armor MK2. Unfortunately, that translates to MSI still living in the stone age if they can't revamp their cooling designs like they did with redeeming Armor on Turing.

It depends on whether you're capable of reading the news article's last sentence.

Seems unnecessary to rebrand the same things just for AMD. They're still releasing Super RTX "Armors" soon, so why the "Mech" here? Plus, I liked the plain look of the Armors. Red just limits it. I already have a Red Devil that's an eyesore.

They're still releasing Super RTX "Armors" soon, so why the "Mech" here?
That one is easy. NVidia contracts with AIB's forbids them from using the same naming scheme for non-NVidia products. So MSI can't use the "Armor" name on AMD GPU's and they can't use the "Mech" name on NVidia GPU's.
Why would NEW cards not arrive with all the custom cards? Why the need to state that at all?
Because the custom cards are embargoed until August, likely because AMD wants a chance to make money on the first wave of cards.

If that's the case, then why would they still have GAMING in their line-up? Surely NVIDIA would object to that one over all others?
