All I gotta say is What the F***. I want to address couple issues I'm having.

1st. The game won't even start at all unless you have it running under Windows 98 / ME mode:laugh:

2nd. It always runs in single core mode. After downloading process.exe to set how much cores a application can use the game freezes when it plays videos. The only time I can set it at dual core is when the race starts under pause menu.

What I did for the single core issue was write a simple cmd file that starts the game, when I select my track and car and the race starts. I press CRTL + ALT + DEL because CRTL + SHIFT + ESC doesn't work. Press enter in the command prompt & it starts process.exe with 2 cores enabled. Frames went from 13 to 28 so it's recommend if you have low fps.

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need for Speed SHIFT Demo>start shiftdemo.exe

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need for Speed SHIFT Demo>pause
Press any key to continue . . .

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need for Speed SHIFT Demo>Process -a shiftdemo.
exe 11

Command Line Process Viewer/Killer/Suspender for Windows NT/2000/XP V2.03

Setting Affinity Mask for PID 1892 'shiftdemo.exe'
Affinity Mask Successfully Set to 00000000000000000000000000000011

C:\Program Files\Electronic Arts\Need for Speed SHIFT Demo>pause
Press any key to continue . . .

What's up with NFS shift. I honestly never had these problems with any other NFS series even though they were crappy

i had the same problems as you so i updated my graphics driver.

then all was fine

Havent heard of this problem at all. I think its limited.

Been running fine on my system also.

Same here, runs without any Compatability tricks. The reason its only running on one core is because you are running it in Win98 Compat. Multicore wasn't supported back then (so I have read).
The game is playable but there are slowdowns on certain tracks with many cars, and then its only bad at the start.

running a 9600GSO, you cant expect much in the way of performance. Im surprised at 28 FPS.
Both of my cores are running just fine on my E8400(mid range) and my 4870 keeps the frames above 60 at 1920x1200 at 16x AF, all high.
in about 20 hours of play so far, I have had 1 freeze up that required me to restart my computer.
The rest is all smooth.

the game actually runs very good on the GSO but he dosen't really have a GSO(he has the cut down one), his card is more similar to a overclocked 9500GT performance wise

Under xp64 and win7 64 nfs shift rocks, plain and simple, i love it! sorry! Edit: by rocks I mean on my e8400 it runs at all highest settings at 1920x1200 and it's dam fast! Maybe my gtx280 helps, but this game isn't that hard on a system......
