Hello,

My HP Pavilion G6 laptop randomly restarts only when running windows/linux.(without bluescreen or no error, nothing..) It runs without any problems on bios screen or while ram testing (memtest86+).. Rams appeared to be in perfect condition, yet the hdd is also healhty since I tried another disk without luck. (I also tried usb bootable windows live with HDD removed but same thing happened..)
One thing I'm sure about is the CMOS battery is dead, but not sure if it causes random restarts.

What should I focus into in order find the root cause? Does it need reballing for its second gpu? Or is it a chipset problem? Waiting for your valuable advices..
Have a nice day.

Hi,
Cmos battery would effect system time and browser on websites.
Restarts I doubt it
You say it runs fine on windows and linux and fine in bios ?

It restarts under any OS, but runs without error on bios or bootable dvds.

Hi,
Seems looking perfect memory is likely the issue
Usb would mostly run off system memory so normally I would say system drives but usb is saying memory which would also case restarts.
Cmos battery would be an easy repair.

Turns out to be an external GPUs malfunction. Will require a reball or uma process. I would prefer the cheapest one though.

*update: uma process completed. The problem however, still continues.
