My GPU 6800XT's waterblock blocks me from the first pci express slot. So i'm in the 2nd slot at 3.0 8x.
The manual says somthing like the 4th one can be 16x also but only in sli or crossfire?
I just want 3.0 16x one card AND cannot go to first slot. LOL

Sounds like you have your cpu cooler rotated wrong
Hell post an image of the build :/

No air cooler I've ever seen blocks the first pci-e slot they come pretty close on x299 apex but that is the only board that is very close using a noctua D14 or 15 air cooler.
Here's my x99 sabertooth, sure it's close but is fine.

The Gpu cooler is hitting the io shell at the top of the pci slot its a waterblock. Alphacool.

Sorry to say this, but from what I can see, the IO is above the slot. Seems to be an alphacool backplate issue, not a godlike issue.
 
Hi,
Time to ghetto mod/ cut the back plate and just lap a thermal pad so back of the card doesn't touch anything.
Second slot should still use x8 and most games don't saturate that I mean you're not playing cyberpunk/... are you ?
I've bench tested first and second slots and there is zero difference.

It looks like a substantial performance gain to me. I guess it has to be in the top slot for 16x.

I fixed it put it in the top slot. barely fit. Thanks guys.
