My FM285X system says the NB should to be 1.25 times the memory frequency so as my memory is running at 1866mhz,so being 933mhz im running the NB at 1200? I keep reading in the forums that the NB should be 3 to 1 the memory frequency but thats alot more than the asus bios recomends? Everyone running FX processors all say there NB is at about 2000mhz and above,I know im using the FM2 A8 series and not a FX but wanted ask what people think i should set my NB at with my memory running at 1866mhz. If i choose to let the bios auto set all the frequencies,either 2133 or 2400mhz the NB does not change and isnt auto setting and stays at 1200 even though i have not tried running the machine at them frequencies i just noticed the NB didnt change.
Ive got the cpu at 1500mhz and as Antix doesnt keep to what the bios setting say and automatically goes much higher so im using the terminal to run "echo powersave | sudo tee /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu*/cpufreq/scaling_governor" and that then turns the cpu down too 1500mhz the lowest available.
The reason i turn the cpu down is for power saving and to keep the temps down.Also as i only use the machine for the basics and at most, watching bitchute/brighteon or 153news videos 1500mhz is just fine and i find it running great with no issues,i even turned one of the modules off so its now running as a 1 core 2 threads or a dual core which ever way you look at it.
I had a intel G41 dual core 3.33/6M/1333 running at 1066mhz memory before,the E8600 are a good cpu but the G41 limited it too 1066mhz so i updated it to the AMD 85X as it was cheap and this FM2 board and cpu is much better ive been finding,i also wanted a spdif output on the back for my soundbar.
