Need For Speed: The Run takes players from San Francisco to New York.. possibly the other way around using the upcoming Frostbyte 2 engine, the same engine being used in the upcoming Battlefield 3 game.

With the announcement, EA has launched this teaser trailer:

Yeah it would, but I doubt it. I'm sure there will be some map and it will be done in stages or something, but who knows?!

I just want to see some in game footage with the Frostbyte 2 engine!

i haven't actually played a game that uses frostbite, does that mean we might have another racing game that actually looks nice besides dirt 2

Nice. I kinda got attached to the latest Hot Pursuit despite massive difference compared to the older NFS games, but i'm really looking forward to this game. As far as we could see in this trailer the sports cars are not gone. I just hope they won't bring back too much "rice". I want prestige and exotics like Aston Martin, Lambos, Zondas and if possible also Ferrari's. We'll see. Can't wait!

Unless it has an interior camera and semi-realistic handling/physics I don't give a damn.

I miss Underground.

Underground 2 was incredible.

Yes, PLEASE!!

Shift2 is pretty good. I am constantly amazed with the scenery. But I dunno...FPS engine customized for racing does present many possibilites...

It would be so awesome if they had one giant map of the main highways between the two, and you get to drive the whole way! But I know that won't happen.

i've just remembered hot pursuit, it is all connected but only in free roam, i'd imagine this will be the same (lots of small races but its all connected when you go to free roam)

Judging by the trailers it looks like its going be a movie type of game.
But i am looking forward to frostbite 2 engine on the game.

I don't like games that turn from pure racing into GTA. Sure GTA was a success but trust me, no NFS fan wants to turn the NFS franchise into GTA clone. Let the racing be just racing and nothing else.

Looking for NFS Underground series... Where are you?

:-\

Interesting to see the Frostbite engine come to the Racing Genre, will keep my eyes on this.

Underground was rather boring. Only interesting was drag racing which was done really well. And in NFS:U2, the car tweaking and tunning. And i loved the dyno testing with graphs and everything. There i could squeeze out the last drop of performance out of my cars and tune them for long straight tracks or twisted tracks where acceleration was all it matters.
I hated the mandatory car pimping with spinners and other garbage just to progress in the game.

agreed, now need for speed most wanted:rockout:

I'd like to see something more indicative of the actual game play, teasers are great at teasing, but I mean really what is this game even about? they've hinted only a handful of cars and that police will be involved...

seams like every other need for speed game (besides shift and pro-street) street racer runs away from cops until one of the cars hits the other in a physics defying crash involving 20 second air time and another 5 minutes of rolling over afterwords

notice its always a big white van you hit in NFS games, always around that blind corner, always pulling out from a sidestreet, always in my lane in a drag...

what i hate is that i can hit a police car at 30 and it will blast the police car away at 300 mph+ whilst you hit a white van and your car can just stop from 200 to 0 instantly

yeah most wanted was NUTS like that, hitting police with that 'slow pause' effect on just gave your car like 10x mass and you PWNED shit out of your way. nothing weighs more than a big white van tho.

I hope the challenge is as much fun as Most wanted,i love going into running away from police racking up wanted value stuff,to race against a member of the blacklist.

WOW, that video sucked. Hoping for to much asking it be like NFS:PU huh.

NFS: I've got the runs.

Most Wanted was fun. I consider it one of the best "new age" NFS games. And it had an interesting story, considering its a racing game. And i loved Josie Maran in it and all the angry bunch on the black list. It gave the game personality. Something that the latest NFS Hot Pursuit, despite quite big fun factor just doesn't have.
