Is anyone here good with 3D modeling or architecture. I’m trying to get a 3D model made of me and my wife’s new construction home so we can decide on the colors and etc but I have no clue into what I’m doing :banghead:

Hi,
Go to home depot or Lowe's they can do this stuff often for free if you buy products from them.

I personally dont have much in the way of advice here, but to google for an app which is designed for people in your situation. I know its not hard to do once you get started.

If you fancied learning some 3d modelling you could always download unreal and build your home using that.

Good luck with your new home. :toast:

I think one of my coworkers had a CAD model of his new home available to him. That doesn't do you any good on its own, of course, but I'll try to remember to ask more about how he got it this week; maybe some of that info will be helpful.

Just to add I do have all the blue prints with correct dimensions

Hi,
Not sure there is an easy 3d app
These looks interesting

This one looks the easiest

google even had one but sold it. google sketchup is now owned my trimble, but you might still be able to use it.

I have used sketchup before and after and never had an issue, Trimble only bought them for the software to incorporate into automation/modeling and tracking.

Anybody that can do it

Doesn't your new construction home has a construction plan made by an architect? The plans should have a digital version, and also rendered 3D models for visual checks.

Is this a remodel or (edited cuz i reread OP)? Did you buy the plans? Or have them drawn up?

Either way, is this what you are looking for

I paid a lot of money for that, but it happened fast. In our case, it's a remodel. The orig is now attatched, too.

It’s completely new construction. My builder drew up the plans.

We used 3D modeling that we could print and gave lists of materials in the late90s and early 2000s and could print them. Few builders had the know how, but most today should be able to generate a model, it saves on fuckups like having a toilet right over a floor beam, HVAC ducting issues, and much else.

If your contractor doesn’t use it I would ask for detailed plans if you have already paid startup costs.

A couple of things went down with my coworker's house. He made his own model at floorplanner.com, and then also had a draftsperson at a lumberyard make one up. That cost $1500, though, and was a technical drawing of the floorplan, not a 3D model of the space.

Since you've already got plans, floorplanner.com or something similar may be something you could do yourself. 3D modeling complex models is a time-intensive task, so you may need to hire someone if you don't have the temporal resources to accomplish it yourself.

Sorry; that's probably not all that helpful...

Hi,
Even some furniture companies offer services to see how furniture/ colors look in rooms all you need is the room wall ceiling sizes.

Most architects / engineers prepare their plans in AutoCAD ($1,775 per year) or Revit ($2,550 per year). It takes about a year to become reasonably proficient. Revit can do modeling, AutotoCAD also with add ons. Most builders don't invest the cash into the software of the time in learning it do use outside drafting firms. Tennesse is one of the states that does not require a licensed design professional to prepare house plans. There's Free Download for Revit (30 days)and if ya don't mind

"Tennessee - No architect needed for One-family and two-family dwellings and domestic outbuildings pertaining thereto; in addition to farm buildings not designed or intended for human occupancy."

That being the case, your plans may not have been draw electronically ... which means whatever you use, you will have to input all the data yourself. The most common software used by non-professionals is SmartDraw for Mac. It basically produces what you have ... 2D plans and only costs $10. Sweet Home 3D is free to use but ya can't save anything ... it's about $15, but kinda cartooney"

On the windows side and free there's FreeCAD and SkecthUp which is about $300. Blender can be used to do modeling also ... seen it ... no idea of learning curve as we only use AutoDesk products ...

I do have a Mac and PC or iPad Pro for use

I mostly just want to get an idea of the exterior and color options. The plans I have are very detailed with exact dimensions and placements of everything including windows and doors.

If you could get me an legal full version of SolidWorks 2022, I might be able to do something...
:toast:

Hi,
Old school would be build it with cardboard or hardboard and paint it as you want to.
No real technical software training needed

Using free blender you wouldn't have much hair left lol

Man thats worse

Hi,
lol
I really liked the 3d slash one but it only has 8 colors lol

Anyone ever heard of Fiverr

Fiver seems to be a website to pay someone to create 3D models but I’m not sure if its a legit site or anything. There’s hundreds of different companies on there with prices from $10-$300
