I have a FX5500 sitting around...that is garbage too. You'll go from playing games on low settings at 15fps to playing them on low settings at 18fps.

yeh like i said i got the card for free,and im not going to be using it for gaming!!! is that true i can flash it to the fx5500???

They are just about the same card. They use the same core, but the 5200 runs slightly slower, so just overclock it.

the 5200 isnt that bad of card... until 6 months ago it was my main card... It plays BF2 fine on low settings...

the 5200's suck. i remember trying to play need for speed underground with my 5200. it worked, but not very well at all.

I have a FX5500 256MB sitting in one of my computers and it can barely handle AoEIII on ultra low settings. I have a Go FX5200 64MB and it oddly does a better job. It also has faster ram than the desktop 5500, but it's still 128 bit. Both cards can't get much better than a 1200 in 3dMark03. Oddly, the 5500 can handle Empire Earth II much much much better than the 5200 can. Maybe it needs the extra texture memory that the 5500 has. Anyway, the Go5200 just makes me wish I could upgrade my laptop's GPU. It seems kind of a waste in this Toshiba P25-S607, which looks like it would be rather powerful with it's 17" widescreen monitor and all.

so wot do people think i should do flash it to a 5500?which im not 2 confident doing or just overclock it on riva tuner??altho i have tried and its not stable at all which but a little overclock???

tried playing age of empires 3 on it and im have to play on low settings and its still laggy, even tho the recommended is 64mb

does it have the stock cooler?

just a big heatsink!!! and i cant figure out how to check the temp if there is a way??

just overclock it. it is possible that the 5500 could be slightly different. so to be on the safe side, see what you can get out of it.

ya no big risk in burning it either ;)

5500=5200 with a fan.

The best samples of the NV34 chip (your chip) that I know of were in the FX5200 Ultra and hit 325 MHz from the factory. It has a better cooler (with a fan and all) than you do, and it probably has a cherry picked core. In other words, I'd keep it south of 325 MHz if I were you.
