Hello everyone, I have this sound card http://www.rocketfishproducts.com/products/computer-accessories/RF-51SDCD.html (which is basically a rebranded sound blaster audigy se) and it works great with good audio and everything but every since I rebuilt my computer a couple of months ago I have never been able to access the control panel for the sound card to adjust its settings.

I have tried the drivers with the cd it came with and as well as the ones on the cards website. I am running windows 7 ult 64 bit.

Did you remove the sound card before rebuilding and installing the drivers? Note the Quick Setup Guide and the user guide for your card say to install drivers and applications before using the sound card.

If you didn't do that, I recommend you uninstall all drivers and software, then shutdown and unplug the computer from the wall. Open the case and touch bare metal to discharge any static, then remove the card, connect PC power and boot the computer and make sure onboard sound works. Then start over following the instructions for your card.

I have done that dude. When i rebuilt my pc I replaced or upgraded everything except the sound card and video card. Windows was freshly installed on my hdd and the drivers where installed fresh.

The sound card works great but when I try to access the audio control panel so I can adjust the various sound cards settings I get an error message.

I have re installed the drivers 3 times same issue. I can still control the volume on my sound card with the default volume control in windows, but I would like to get the control panel software for my sound card to work

Hmmm, well, I am afraid I am at a loss here. Can you adjust any of the sound settings via the normal Windows Control Panel Sound applet?

Just a basic question, and I'm sure you have done this, but I have to ask: Where are you coing to access the control panel? Is there a Rocketfish entry in your Start Menu?

In windows control panel, there is a control panel for my sound card. thats what I am trying to access but I get an error message each time I try to open it. sorry i should have been more clear. I dont remember what the error message was and I'm at work so I wont be able to check until I get home.

The error is something related to hardware compatiblelity or a device error message from what I remember or something of that nature.

and bill i have no problems accesing the windows control panel.

See if there is another entry under Rocketfish in your Start Menu to try and access the control features.

ok il try that but if that doesnt work, what would be the next thing i should check?

Any errors in Device Manager?

I dont believe so. i didnt see any the last time I was in device manager but that was a couple of weeks ago.

Perhaps you can use this unofficial driver pack for Audigy Se series instead, may be the best driver pack you can get which is made by Daniel_K. who's famous for modding Creative Labs soundcards' drivers. Uninstall the current driver you used for the Rockfish soundcard and install this driver pack; see if it works better now and whether you can enter into control panel for the soundcard.

All credits go to Daniel_K..

Can 2nd using Daniel K's. I swear by them on my X-Fi.

so those drivers should work with my sound card? i knows it a rebranded audigy but it says rocket fish, so i hope there is not compatibility issues.. Il give those a try and see if that fixes my issue. thanks for the tip.

Set system restore point before you do
common sense often overlooked

Yep your Rocketfish is covered by those drivers.

You guys rock. those drivers fixed my issue. thanks.

I sure would not have recommended unofficial drivers but I may have to change my ways! I am glad that worked and thanks for posting the followup.

Daniel_K even has permission to post them on Creatives own forums ;)

I thought creative offerd him a job and he now works for them? could be wrong though.

He fixed many issues creative kept screwing up then they had the cheek to try and sue him but i'm sure i read that creative finally offered Dan_K a job in the end

Yeah I remember when they were after him but I didn't know they offered him a job in the end. Money well spent on Creative's part.
