need help with crossfire...

GUYS!!!!!! THE CARD IS DYING!!! that's why it was $114. i need to RMA it.
 
Try it on another computer first. I bet its just Vista, I doubt it but its worth the hassle of RMAing it.
 
Hey bros, don't dis Vista in this guys presence...

FYI, CFX only "works" in Vista. ;)
 
ok... i got it to load into vista and it will let me enable crossfire x but the screen goes blank and the machine locks up.

what now?
 
Hopefully it's the drivers... or an easy fix.:confused:
 
I tried enabling it again and the driver crashed. I'm gonna try reinstalling the driver now.
 
ok. It says enabled but locks up when I run 3dmark06.
 
Looks like you better put the single core card in alone and put it through some tests to confirm it's up to the task .... maybe the price was too good

well... i changed the res and it seemed to be working fine now. i think these might be pre release drivers. lets hope tomorrow brings better luck.

it would all be fine and dandy if the fucking ati drivers would uninstall like they are supposed to!!! every time i go to "programs and features" i try to uninstall ATI catylist and it says "could not locate installer" i have tried drivercleaner, ccleaner, registry mechanic, and manually delete all ATI folders and it still wont go away. the driver is gone but CCC and MOM load on startup.

LOL! :laugh: im a Vodka guy. i think the driver im using is crap. it says it doesn't support the 3870x2. it did allow me to enable xfire-x but was really buggy. i think it intstalled 3 drivers for the 3870 but not the 3870x2. im gonna keep tinkering with it but i hope to see some 8.3 REAL drivers when i get up in the morning.

you guys probably think im crazy.
 
I have a suggestion! Return that 3870, keep the money, make some more, and send it to me for my X2 and QUAD FIRE EM!

The first VT 3870 I had did stuff like that. The card was corrupt. I bought it open box for like $170 back when they retailed for $250.
 
well, one thing is for sure... the 8.3's are better than 8.2's. i gained 134 points at 3.6ghz. im thinking the other card might work. im trying it again.
 
You still using those drivers I sent you? Idk about them? Good luck! If you are on the east coast, figure the soonest you will see them posted on AMD's site is 3AM.
 
im CST so that means 2am? the drivers are working. im benching right now. (i love my ipod touch!)
 
I think for XP the information where ATI drivers are "stored" is somwhere like this:
"C:\ATI\SUPPORT\8-1_xp32_dd_ccc_wdm_enu_57717"

As for an FTP, I think they don't use one.. I think it say "https://xxx" when you start a download.. and it's from here: "https://a248.e.akamai.net" it the files are located.
 
im gonna call this 3870 dead. after a few benches it's crashing the driver every time now. it wont even load into windows anymore.
