Need help with Lian Li Strimer Plus

So I've had the strimer plus ATX + 8pin combo for awhile, and my favorite setting was what I'll call a "vertical rainbow wave". It seemed to be one of the default settings, and it was basically a rainbow wave that waved from one end to the other of each "strand" of led's. Yes, it was unicorn barf, and yes I'm one of those folks who loves the unicorn barf RGB. I'm calling this a vertical wave to distinguish between a rainbow wave that runs from each strand to the next, which I think of as horizonal (for the purposes of this conversation - obviously it depends on how you have things set up). In a horizontal wave, each strand at any given point in time is a single color, and the strands sort of change color one at at a time, whereas in the vertical one, it runs smoothly from one end of the cable to the other.

I recently upgraded to the triple 8 pin, and initially I had a hard time making this work, but I did get it to work. It didn't seem to be one of the regular presets, but if I held one of the buttons in for a few seconds while it was on one of the other presets (my memory of exactly how I managed to do this is a little fuzzy), then it worked. Today I had to install a new motherboard because the old one had to be RMA'd, and I just can't get it to do the vertical wave no matter what I do.

I don't want to install MSI's dragon software because it's a horror show, and I do recall having to fiddle with the cable that attaches the control box to the motherboard (pulling it in then out then back in again or something), but ultimately, it was button presses on the box that got me the vertical wave that I'm looking for. Now I just can't figure out how to get it to do that. It is by far my favorite setting, and I don't understand why it's not one of the simple presets to begin with - this setting is essentially why I have these cables in the first place.

Not sure if this question is in the right place. I can't find any Lian forums where I can ask this question, and tech power up seems to have lots of info on Lian li stuff, particularly the strimer plus cables. I read these forums from time to time, but I made an account just to ask this question. Thanks ahead of time for any help.

TLDR: how to I make a vertical rainbow wave work with the new triple 8-pin/atx combo without using dragon center?

Msirgb is 3ed party. You can find it on GitHub. It has alot more controls then the dragon center. You won't be stuck with the small limits like on dragon center.
