Well, I bought a laptop for my son(ASUS G60VX-RBBX05) as a graduation present for Naval Boot Camp. I know he's going to run Starcraft 2, so I'm trying to push this baby. Been overclocking the P7450 with SetFSB. Currently @ 2.5Ghz with ram @ 940Mhz(DDR2-800). Thermals are good so far, but I want to drop the ram divider down and I have no options in BIOS. Does anyone know if I can downclock my ram with SetFSB? I've searched and found only one vague reference. Thanks in advance.

the only way to downclock your ram is to downclock your fsb or play with dividers.

For me in my experience I get lucky finding the right adjusting codec for my system

Which i remember in set FSB.

Answer your question simple, no you cannot change ram DIVIDER via setFSB.

I do use
memset.jpg

To tweak ram for a benchmark or lower or raise timings though. :toast:

Id set the divider threw bios if i was you, but knowing your smarts- the laptop probably dosnt have a option to in the bios

yeah you cant but i would use memset or cputweaker and lower your ram subtimgs for stability. the only ram timing you cant tweak via os is CAS

Thanks guy's. I've got it to 2.6Ghz with ram @ 970mhz. Gonna run Prime95/memtest sessions to see how she holds up.

tell him to spring for some cheap 1066mhz ram;)

From what I've seen on the webz, the ram is good for 1000mhz. I'll just let him save up his money.
