Need help with vram usage at lower resolutions please.

Hi I'm planning on getting a gtx 1060 3gb for my 720p screen I'm aware of the overkill but can someone please explain to me if the lower resolution equals lower vram usage. Will the 3gb affect me at 720p in terms of limitations?

Even at 1080p, the only performance difference against 6 GB is that the 3 GB has fewer shaders.

Mainly upgrading for Shadow Of War. I just want to forge a new ring without vram stuttering.

if shadow of war is anything like shadow of mordor you are gonna want 4GB minimum id opt for a 1060 6GB ., that being said the rest of your rig isn't exactly up to par either particularly the cpu

I played shadow of mordor with a 750ti on mostly ultra and textures on high without issues. Also played doom on ultra not nightmare without problems. Rise of the tomb raider also played on high.

its not trash but its 2017 the days of 3GB cards being viable are numbered
id opt for a better card that way WHEN you upgrade the rest of the system you can take the gpu and re-use it

Must admit Moar is correct here. A new MB and chipset + ddr4 and plug your 750 into it. Everything will be cool. You'll see.

Thought about a R580? With your budget that's what I would definitely be looking at.

My plan was to buy an rx470 that costs R3499 the 10603gb costs R3399 the 6gb version is R4200 rx 580 is R4500 upwards. 1050ti costs about R2499. South African rand.

Ouch on those prices. I had no idea. You have Ebay I guess. An r390 or gtx970 might work. Just thinking out loud.

Thanks a lot for your help Rosie I'll probably stick with the zotac mini1060 3gb for 720p as its rocking the value for money charts at the moment. I'm under the assumption that I'll get double the fps at 720p.
