I'm working in this laptop for a friend. I had to replace the motherboard with a used one because there was a loose screw banging around inside and it wouldn't turn on... suspected short circuit. The replacement motherboard seems to be working good except I can't get the laptop to charge when it's on. Right from when it boots the power light on the side turns from orange (if it was charging) to white. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the OS.
The power adapter will run the laptop but not with the battery in. when the battery is in, it just runs off the battery, despite being plugged in and shutsdown when it's dead. The battery appears to be fine based on tests and I replaced the power adapter but it didn't help. I also updated to the newest bios. I'm wondering if there is an issue with this replacement used mobo?
