Windows 7 is not going away anytime soon. There was a number of users requesting a game to be compatible with Windows 7 on Steam, & the developer responded by giving us compatibility.

I was one of those users requesting compatibility.

What game was that if you dont mind me asking?

but I asked why even 7

Did you notice the date in your screen shot - over 18 months ago so this is not news.

Including support for W7 makes total sense because there are still many corporations, institutions, governments and other organizations that still paying for "Extended Security Updates" (ESU) support, which is still available for Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Enterprise versions until January 2023.

You should have asked for Windows XP support while you're at it. Windows 7 should die asap.

Is this already built into clean Win 10 installs with the latest updates? So I don't have to do anything?

Why is this not news. It was only released yesterday. Look at the date.

Why is it supporting 7? Primary reason I will wager is for security of W7 systems as well as anyone across the internet they have interaction with. It recognizes that there are a large number of 7 users, so they need to be secured.

Yes, the final release version was just released. But V5 has been "in the works" and out in beta and preview versions for months.

Is that not what everyone want on they computer at the end of the day, "The final version".
Nobody really wants beta software on they computer, they want the final version where most, if not all bugs are removed.

So this is news.

Yes, but your gripe was that it supported Windows 7. That was the focus of my comment.

That's not the point.

You pointed out to rk3066 that "this is not news" @posting #5. ..Of coarse it is news regardless of what OS it supports. The final version release is only one day old when the OP posted that information.

If the OP did not start a thread on this how many users do you think would of been aware of "final version". I for one was not aware, & I can bet all users beside the OP in this thread was not aware "of the final version" including yourself.

That was MY point. I don't really care what your point is. The OP (rk3066) commented about this supporting W7. That is old news. Now you can keep dwelling on this, I don't care about that either. I'm moving on. Have a good day.

Well here's my point. Don't try to belittle the OP or myself. ..OP did well to inform users of the "final version" & you should thank the OP by "giving him an like" at posting #1.

Belittle? Okay. Didn't know and certainly didn't mean to belittle anyone. Sorry if I did. But I might suggest you get some tougher skin if that is all it takes for you to feel belittled. And I might point out that rk3066 is fully capable of defending himself too.

I was nit-picking to why MS including an update or two to even update (to WiN10) when I was at the time still on W7 that's All. Just now I'm Happy they Finally got to releasing 5.0

Well it will be interesting to see what (and when) application developers will do with it. I just wish 5.0 would let us get rid of all previous versions. I'm not a programmer so ignorance plays a key role here, but it frustrates me that 3 does not replace 2, 4 does not replace 3 and now 5 will not replace 4.

Not sure if bumping this thread has any importance, but here is latest .net files which seem to have move to version 6 & 7.

Download here .NET Downloads (Linux, macOS, and Windows) (microsoft.com)

I do know one game that requires the latest .net version 3.1 released last year in December. ..I can't remember if it was War Thunder/World Of Warcraft or Baldur's Gate 3. .One of these games requires it.

Windows 7 is legendary to me. But let's face it, is dead now.
