My brother is thinking of building another computer but he want to go matx so it can be portable so i picked out this motherboard Asus p5b-vm-xx

anyway do any of those support the 1333fsb? and if not i can still use a 1333 proc in it right?

hmm, ok. thanks for the heads up.

thats what we have picked so far. it needs to stay in that budget of about $600

We don't need monitor, os, keyboard/mouse, speakers, or hdd.

what do you people think of the setup? could we get some stuff better?

it's 7

and why the hd2600xt

it's 7

and why the hd2600xt

the hd2600xt is better :)
and 7x340 = 2380mhz = slow ass overclock
try to get a e2160 (9 multi) or a e4400 (9 multi) :)

get the ati! :p
ati chipset and ati card sounds better
and the hd2600xt if has the same ram chips as mine will overclock great

ok, now it would be hd 2600xt vs the 8600gts
and the proc would be the e6750, it's multi is 8 btw. the abit mobo supports that proc right?

don't know
check abit site
about the card being a 88gts or a hd26xt get the gts
between the gt and the hd26t get the xt :)

ok so it's

8600gts>8600gt<2600 xt<8600gts

i can't find if the abit mobo supports the 1333. I kinda want to go 1333 although i could just get an e6600

edit: if i got the e6750 would the fsb just work at 1066 if the mobo won't support 1333?
edit #2: just found it, the abit board doesn't support 1333, is there one that does for sure that clocks decently?

hum
get the e2160 and clock the hell out of it

considering the case, that might be a problem. he is set on the case. the hardware he just said "ask your buddies on tech whatever and just get me the best stuff for about $700-$800"

i know you probably are not getting hte p5b-vm anymore... but just a note.

the board stinks, you cant put in the e6750... even with the newest bios it still doesnt work.
just black.

the abit hd board mentioned is good, it runs the e6750 no problem...

ironically just sold two computers this week with those exact setups.

but the abit had dead usb ports on the back... so had to rma it anyway.

Wait a minute... pt... All because you have a HD2600XT it doesnt mean its better than the 8600GT. In the majority of tasks the HD2600XT gets thoroughly whitewashed by the 8600GT, so freaksavior 8600GT instead.

Fanboism is suicidal :p ATI Chipset + ATI GPU doesnt = extra performance... =_=

proof of that pls in a recent review or scores
