I Installed a new cpu and nothing turned on, yes the power switch on the psu was on. the only light was the ethernet activity port.

The cpu i installed was a ryzen 5950x on an asus b550-a, im on the lastest bios.

There was also no debug lights on.

I would unseat it, reseat it, wiggle it around a bit, and try again. The last time I was swapping CPUs between two AM4 socketed systems, one of the systems wouldn't power up the first time. Probably user error and not making sure the CPU was firmly pressed into the socket.

Clear the CMOS just in case. What was your previous CPU?

Clearing the CMOS is a good idea. It might clear some settings that the 5950X isn't happy with.

And if you do get it to boot, I'd run it with default BIOS settings for a while (no OC, no PBO, no playing with memory timings) until you are reasonably convinced the CPU is functioning as expected.

still doesnt work. this is so weird. no fans spinning but i can see the ethernet ports lighting up

already did that still didnt work :( my previous cpu was a 5900x

Every cable is surely plugged in? Wonder that does 5950X need both 8 and 4pin CPU power cables to be plugged in.

OK, interesting. The 5950X is surely working?

give it a couple minutes after you power it on. when you change ryzen cpus the boards will do the annoying tpm check, which sometimes takes a couple minutes to initialize then it will ask you if you want to reset tpm.

if it still doesn't work then try just one stick of RAM to get it going.

Nope. They both go to the same power plane. Only need the 8pin EPS

I would power off. Clear cmos (while off). Make sure the GPU is seated correctly and monitor connected and powered on. Only AMD 5000 series CPU to have onboard graphics is the APU ones. Otherwise you need a video card.

Go down to 1 DIMM. Turn power on and wait to see if you ever get a post screen or enter the bios. Oh and disconnect your HDD so it doesn't boot into windows just in case that is your problem

When I replace my 5800x with a 5950x I had to play a waiting game so to speak. When the monitor came on on I had to go into the bios and change settings. It still is slow about starting.

Did you practice proper ESD prevention when installing this new CPU? That is, did you unplug the computer from the wall, then touch bare metal of the case interior to discharge any static in your body BEFORE touching the CPU?

No degub lights suggests something is not plugged in properly in to the board or the board is dead.
