Hello all. My old battery in my MSI GS70 died on me and I ordered 2 new replacement batteries over Amazon. I installed one of them and after 2 days of usage the LED light on the laptop started to blink red even if the laptop wasn't on. After 2 days of usage the first battery can't keep the laptop running more then 5-10 secs. although the battery seems at %100. Thinking i did something wrong or the battery was faulty to begin with, i installed the 2nd battery and it's acting the same way. Anyone has any ideas how to fix it?

If they are cheapo 3rd party Chinese batteries they're probably just garbage. They either both have the same manufacturing defect or they are out of spec with what the laptop is expecting. Did you run the battery calibration tool?

Don't buy cheap batteries, sometimes its the charger so borrow another one and try that. It has a sensor that will sometimes go bad

The power distributor in the laptop may be shot. It might not be sending any power to the battery when it is plugged in so the batteries fail to recharge.

Also try it when its off. See if it charges. There is a driver that can cause problems also in Windows

But buy off Amazon, an OEM battery not a third party if it doesn't fix the issue then send it back. They have a great return policy

It wouldn't say 100% if that were the case. It would just say "0%, not charging".

Thanks for the replies people. Quick update. I wasn't able to start my troubleshooting yesterday, waited for the weekend to start. First let me answer some questions :
* I bought the batteries of Amazon, but i don't know if they are cheep replicas of the original ones or not. The problem is that in Turkey, MSI gave their hardware support system to a 3rd party firm and they are a bit unprofessional. They told me to send them my laptop and wait 2 months for the batteries to arrive (if they arrived they said...)
* Both batteries came out of the box not fully charged. The first one was around 80% and the other was around 60%. First thing i did was charge the batteries to full.
* I've used MSIs' own battery calibrator for the first battery. The thing is the software first makes you charge the battery to full then tells you discharge it until it closes. With the new battery installed, although the battery went up to 100%, the software never told me to unplug my charger for it to start discharging. And i waited for 2-3 hours at 100%!
* Without the batteries installed the system works perfectly.
* I've snooped around the internet, there was no definite answer about MSI and new installed batteries.

Back to the situation now, i left the laptop at my home to go to work yesterday, left the charger unplugged but the 2nd battery was stilled installed in the system, wanted to check again this morning and well, the battery seems to be working. I've downloaded a battery meter to check out the discharge rate of it and it has going well for the last hour or so. Do you guys think i might have overcharged the first time and the system was warning me with a red blinking light and shutting down to prevent any damage?

Will update soon with more information.
