Hi there. So I just got a new computer (16GB NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, 32GB DDR5 RAM, Corsair MP600 Core XT SSD) and whenever I download games on Steam/EA etc, it seems to make other programs unresponsive then goes back to normal then makes it unresponsive again? Could anyone advise? ):

Downloading games takes a lot of CPU/RAM and storage. Decompressing, transferring and installing is an intensive process, especially if you have a fast Internet connection speed.

Limit the download speed to something lower than what you're getting, and you should see resources being freed up and the system being more responsive.

Or use an advanced task manager like process lasso to limit resources of specific tasks.

Could it be the result of a faulty SSD/RAM? I had a a worse computer than this before and this never happened to me

Maybe. But unlikely.

Your old computer probably downloaded a lot slower too.

Do an OCCT stability test.

Have you enabled EXPO?

Latest BIOS?

I downloaded OCCT, what test should I do? Memory?

EXPO1 is enabled.

Not sure what latest bios is

Just completed memory test & found no errors.

Go to the monitoring tab and tell us the name of your motherboard.

We'll send you a link to the latest BIOS.

This is what it looks like.

Follow the instructions on that page on how to install the BIOS update.

Seems like that version is already in my BIOs. Should I try and update it again?

Hi,
Sounds more like you need a replacement for discord.
Memtest86 passed with no errors.
Ran a memory test and got all good scores.

I just don't understand what it is. It's not just discord that freezes, it's chrome, windows explorer etc

Try CrystalDiskInfo to see what your Corsair SSD health is. If it is hardware related, it could potentially be the drive, as suggested above.

Ok well that’s good news, likely software related (less expensive than a hardware issue at least!)
