New SSD Problem!

I cleaned my retro gaming PC yesterday. It is an old Z97 motherboard with a pair of ST1000DX001 1TB SSHD's and Windows 10 Home installed in a dual boot configuration. I decided to install a new 2TB SATA SSD after cleaning. I had planned to disc copy one of the nearly full SSHD's to the SSD. Everything went as planned until I tried to boot from the 2TB SSD. It appears that the shared system files on the SSHD's are preventing the SSD copy from booting properly. Now I plan to keep the SSHD's as they are. Plan B is to disconnect the SSHD's and fresh install Windows 10 to the 2TB SSD. My main question is how much wear and tear will wiping and rewriting do to the NEW 2TB SSD drive?

Practically zero. Especially on a fresh drive.

If I read this correctly you have two bootable SSHD and wanted to move them both to one SSD. Not sure if that is possible so a fresh start is probably advisable.

Pull the SATA cable out of every other drive so Windows/??? only sees the SSD. Once you have your OS('s) set up make sure to have BIOS set both SSHD at the very bottom of boot order.

After downloading a bunch of torrents over time, my SSD was a mess—tons of duplicate files scattered everywhere. Gave Duplicate Files Deleter a shot, and it actually did a solid job cleaning things up. Didn’t expect it to be that effective, but it definitely helped recover a good chunk of space.

Thank you for that! I only wanted to copy one of the 1TB SSHD's to the new 2TB SSD. These two SSHD's have been entangled since the EOL of Windows 7. I'll unplug and do a fresh install on the 2TB SSD today. I hope Windows 10 is triple boot friendly, LOL.:toast:

Problem solved. The SSD is a 2TB Orico Y-20 SATA III 2.5". I got it on sale for under $70. last week. The difference in boot times and app loading times coming from SSHD's is simply AMAZING!:D
