The students from universities in Zurich and Lucerne managed to get their self-built vehicle called 'mythen' to reach 100 kilometers per hour from a standstill in 0.965 seconds, or a distance of 12.3 meters.
The record attempt took place at a military airfield in Dübendorf, near Zurich.
That achievement shattered the previous record: a team from the University of Stuttgart (Germany) had completed the acceleration in 1.461 seconds in 2022.
“All parts of 'mythen', from the circuit boards to the chassis and the battery, were developed by the students themselves and optimized for their function,” said ETH University in Zurich.
The single-seater car weighed 140 kilos and had a power of 326 hp.
