Hello
I have a "computer" as follows:
athlon II x4 635, 2,9 GHz
asrock n68c-s UCC (it's AM2+ socket)
2 x 2 Gb of memory, ddr2 800

I was wondering why, when I access the BIOS, it shows that the memory is recognized as DDR2 533
Please reduce my amount of ignorance.
Thank you.

because the BIOS has defaulted to 533Mhz, you'll have to turn it up to 800Mhz manually.

If your ram requires custom timings or voltages, you'll have to set those in your BIOS as well.

edit: the reason for this, is because voltages cant be automatically detected. so if your ram needed higher volts for 800Mhz and it wasnt set before installing the ram, the system would fail to power on. Its running at 533Mhz for 'safety' to ensure the system powers on correctly after installing the ram.
