Basically I was messing with my CPU today. I bought new fans and a new heat sync and went to put them on. I cleaned off my thermal paste then removed the fan from the heat cync and cleaned out the dust from the sync. I put the fan back on and reapplied thermal paste reconnected them and turned on my computer. No display. I didnt touch anything else but I may have gotten a but of paste on my CPU when removing it. Also I noticed one of the prongs was very slightly bent. Not enough to prevent it from being conndcted though. What I want to know is, would that prevent my display from turning on even though every other aspect is fine? Would it have damaged my CPU? How can I return my c9mputer to normal?

Is the computer still doing a normal post beep message (one beep normally)or is it just running and never trying to boot.

Did you remember to reconnect the fans to the motherboard?

No beeps just running. Also yeah I did though I might have plugged the chord into the wrong spot. One sec I'll find out

So no. Changing the CPU fan connection didnt help

There are 3 fan connection slots. I plugged them into the 3 ones and nothing changed. Wouldnt it just pop a fan error, not cause the CPU not to boot? I only messed with the fan cables so nothing else was bothered by it. Dangit and I really wantee to play some elite dangerous too

and it was all working fine before? ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ perhaps therein lies the problem.

Well I got the paste removed ok, no residue. In addition the prong was straightened with a toothpick since wood is softer than metal. So all the prongs are straight now.

Normally when clean a PC the ram gets bumped and looses contact and stop pc from booting
Remove and clean the ram contacts with an eraser/rubber and reseat , rub the contacts till nice and shiny
The fan connector will not stop pc from booting.
Did you unplug the CPU 4 Pin power maybe?
Reseat Cpu

Okay I've gone and reconnected the ram, I have 3 of them. 2 4gb an 1 8gb. Also the heatsync has been removed, cleaned. The cpu has been removed, cleaned and reinserted. Then I reattached the heat sync. Still no go on the display.

When you say prong, do you mean the cpu's pins or something else.

Since no bios beep it might not be the GPU, but might be the cpu, if it was a bent pin bending it back may not have worked.

Just out of curiosity....why did you take the cpu out in the first place?

I was upgrading my fans + heat sync so I had to clean it before reapplying the thermal paste.

remove gpu and test onboard gpu , reset bios

How do I reset the BIOS?

I don't think my motherboard has an onboard gpu. There isn't a slot for it

Okay I've removed the GPU and I have my eyes o the battery. Now how to I take it out?

Correct Method

Unplug Power
Remove battery , clip on side or prown out from side that has clip on , be carefull , use the tooth pick maybe
Switch the Cmos reset jumper for few seconds ,change jumper back
Power on

Read the Manual

Test the Pc with just one stick of ram at a time

Okay I've reset the jumpers for the CMOS and reinserted my GPU. Still nothing on the display.

Yeah when I said prongs I meant pins

If you have another motherboard or cpu test those. Really think it's the cpu in this case.

I think there is a loose contact somewhere

Remove motherboard/psu/gpu from the case
Put motherboard on box as test bench with psu cable in 20+4 pin and EPS4+4 pin above Cpu
Reseat CPU check the contacts are all clean with rubber aswell as you said got paste on it ( Sh#t AMD still have pins on cpu ?)
Test with one stick of ram, switch between them make sure firmly in
Fit GPU
use screw driver to short start button pins on motherboard

Test with another GPU,PSU if possible
