my brother said that perhaps I need to flash bios for 5000 chips. 5600x and gigabyte auros elite b550m

I have no experience with this as my last pc was i7 6700.

so if the bios is not for 5000, the computer wont even post?

I changed 2 psu and switched ram slots, changed gpu but no post.

thanks in advance

The first bios, F1 doesn't support our CPU but from F10 it does. And yes you need to flash a new bios if your MB has an older bios than the F10 since as you experienced it will not POST. You need a USB stick, FAT 32 formated, but I think that how they come from the shop and then read the manual on how to proceed (dedicated USB port and Q-flash button). You don't need an old F1 supported CPU to flash.

thanks for the assist. the cpu is already installed with thermal paste. must I remove it? it says to remove it the ram and gpu but dont really want to.

says at the end to remove them. im going to leave the cpu in. take the rest out. also, there are newer bios versions (f17). Ill install f10.

Unless I'm missing something, I've never had to remove a CPU to flash the BIOS. Flash it via the port in the back of the motherboard to the latest BIOS available and that should do the trick.

Soo what that at end said is you don't need it installed to update, doesn't say you have to remove it if it already is. You can leave it in and do the update the cpu isn't required to be installed for update to process.

that would be correct. Thought OP said it stated to be removed, I was like WTF lol. But yes that is correct.

it says update bios WITHOUT having ram gpu cpu installed, but screw it. going to do it as is. dont want to take the cpu out. I had like 5 slightly bent pins at the corner that I used an exacto knife to align up. dont want to mess with in and out.

ok, updating. I think gigabyte are idiots. 1-they have a readme file in the bios download. but it gives no instructions or tips. like telling you to see which MB revision you have and download that. its not a known asnd im sure many got stuck on that part. 2-they dont mention if you should or shouldnt move over the other files like the efiflash.exe or the autoexec.bat files. theyre just half assing that. their own video sucks shet.

I got the info from another video that said to check mb revision. first time ever of flashing bios. I never had an issue to have to flash bios.

I used an older revision bios and it flashed a few seconds then stopped. using the newest revision bios turned the led on the MB on as well and it did the 2 minute process and alls good.

so if another gets in the same situation they can see what the issue is. I did have the cpu in, but took the ram and gpu out.
