Hi,

I am new around here, I have a Gigabyte RTX2080 Ti Windforce OC (GV-N208TWF3OC-11GC)

When I am running NVFlash as soon as I either go to backup my ROM or flash a new one it just freezes up the computer and throws a black screen, I have to force the computer off with a 4 second power button hold.

I have noticed that it has saved my ROM afterwards but it is not flashing a new one, I have tried hitting Y twice shortly after my black screen but nothing ever happens.

Could anybody assist please?

Cheers
Matt

Why are you trying to flash your card anyway?? Nothing good will come of it. You wont gain any performance and you run the risk of bricking your card or messing it up to a point where it cant be reflashed even with the original bios no matter how much you try,

Its a can of worms, trust me. you dont want to fuck with it

@eidairaman1 will also tell you the same and he is our resident expert on this shit.

I must insist that you take no further action in attempting to flash your card until he responds to this thread

Thanks for the reply, I won't go any further I don't want to brick the GPU it cost a lot of money. I'm just curious as to why it was freezing and black screening when touching the EEPROM.

Only reason I wanted to change the BIOS was due to a newer official version being available, also there is a modified one on the Gigabyte forums which lets you up the power limit a little more that's all.

It ain't life or death and not that fussed if I can't update the BIOS

Im guessing the official bios comes with its own executable package to flash the card? Running that might be ok because its an executable made by gigabyte. you'll still run into some risks but its ever so slightly safer because the process is all scripted/automated.

What most people would say is unless you have a problem with the card that the manufacturer has stated the new bios will fix... Dont touch it.

If you arent having any problems with the card. dont update the bios even when there is a bios update available unless you are having problems.

Its not worth the risk and the headaches should the process go wrong.

Not so sure if it's an official one now, looking back at it I found it on the Techpowerup website after looking up my card with GPU-Z, it's only like 10 days newer but has no release notes. I'm guessing it's just another stock firmware found on same model that is manufactured after mine so it isn't an update so to speak. I shall see if Gigabyte has an update but I'm guessing not.

**Update

Just been in the Gigabyte website and found an official BIOS update, it's the F4 one as I'm currently in the F3 version.

It's an autoscripted application but it won't even start on my system it's just telling me to close Aorus engine before updating VGA BIOS. I don't even have Aorus engine.

** Update

Sorry guys, I got it all wrong. My BIOS is actually F10 so there is no new BIOS for my version and the ones I thought were updates aren't for mine.

Let's forget the whole thing
Cheers
