Just wondering if anyone else has some of these? I have 3 in my case and I can hear the pulse noise, kind of annoying.

Having nearly gone with Redux instead of Chromax and iPPC instead of Chromax at least a few times.

Noise the fan blades make wasn't the audible problem being avoided. A similar complaint exists behind many Redux and iPPC resale.

I do and can hear the noise. I've noticed that it only appears at a medium RPM for me. Not sure if that changes depending on how it's mounted and thickness of the metal it's mounted to.

Honestly compared to my Phanteks T30s, the noctua fans move less air and are more noisy. Once they release the 140mm version of the T30 I plan on replacing the rest of my fans with them. Unless of course Noctua's q2 2024 140mm revision is better.

3...of what, exactly? Kinda hard to generalize about an entire product line based on 1 member of it.
  • 80mm: I have 2 x NF-R8s that are just fine. Frankly in comparison to the 2 x NF-A8s I also have, there's no way I would pick the brown fans - way too expensive, no performance advantage, barely a noise advantage.
  • 92mm: NF-B9 redux being the exact same as old NF-B9s, I would probably take the NF-A9 for the corner pads alone as they are more often going to go on heatsinks. But performance/noise wise not a huge difference. A9 and B9 are pretty interchangeable.
  • 120mm: I've also had NF-P12 redux, and NF-A12x25s of any colour absolutely walk all over the redux. P12 Redux are noisy, shitty all around, and no corner pads. Not that I would buy either one now, I run on T30s. Against the NF-F12, probably just save money with the redux, unless you need F12 iPPC-3000.
  • 140mm: both NF-A14 and NF-P14s Redux are equally dated and crappy so it really doesn't matter until Noctua releases their new 140mm............sometime in the next 10 years. And if you needed high RPM/waterproof, A14 iPPC would be the only option anyway.

Apologies

so one NF-P12 1700 rpm

two NF-P14s 1500rpm

cpu has a NF-A15 HS PWM but I didn’t notice any pulsing noise from that with the original voltage controlled case fans.

edit and I think tobasco answered my questions lol

next question what fans have a good PWM system as in quiet and effective?

Be Quiet Silent Wings 4 Pro if you are using it as a case fan only. These fans have low noise and good airflow but low static pressure meaning they are not great heatink / rad fans. For the best rad fans, that'd be the Phanteks T30 (or if your case intakes have moderate to heavy obstruction).

I have 3 NF-P12 redux 1700, with corner pads, and they are no noisier than any of the other fans i have, 3 NF-A12x25, and 4 lian li linkable 120's, all my fans make that kinda air noise, no pulsing. Haven't changed any as i have no problems with them.

Ya no rads, strictly case fans, and low noise as in I don't think I will buy another case fan over 1000rpm for 140mm and 1200 ish rpm for 120mm. If I can find a 900 rpm I will probably go with that.

i had those normal brown ones, and now have the chromax version. pwm all of them, none have made any noise, run them at 500 to 700 rpm.
redux are the grey ones?

Yes I bought once one of those grey 140mm, motor noise was annoying me IIRC.
Replaced it with a be quiet! one.

Of 2x R8, 2x B9, 1x P12 and 1x S12B, I can't say I've noticed what you describe. Could be a bad batch; I had a Cryorig C7 that had what I think you're talking about; happily, they replaced it under warranty.

Side note: I don't recommend the S12B. It's effective, but by the time it's spun up fast enough to be so, it's relatively loud.

Side note 2: I miss Cryorig.

I had two NF-A14 PWM, two NF-F12 PWM and the NF-A15 PWM on D15S. The fan blades are vibrating(very loud) on the F12 and A15/A14 makes this weird motor hum noise, I tested it outside of the case without obstructing the airflow because Noctua advised it, they can ship me rubber spacers that will fix motor hum for sure.

Maybe my ears are just too good, people can't even hear the motor whine on Arctic P series fans. I was tempted to try Redux fans, but you can read in a few places that they arent silent either.

I've got 3 of the redux 120mm 1700s in a box...where they will live out their days.

I think that's a common complaint with the redux and with the industrial ippc lines, would recommend the NF-A ones instead.

I have used 140mm Noctua redux 1500rpm on the Noctua heatsink controlled by the CPU fan header and the top and back are Arctic f14 140mm also controlled by the chassis fan header via fan splitter using Fan Control by GitHub. All set to static speed except the CPU and GPU only ramp up gradually by temperature graph. Don't notice the pulsing noise you describing unless there is something going on in the power delivery powering the fans or instability in the pwm which can cause these pulsing noises throughout the case. You may want to turn off the fan one by one to narrow down which one is causing it same with the fan blade wobbling making more noises. Fan drone noises can happen when there is too much air turbulence in small tight places. You can get rubber corners or rubber plugs for reducing noises it can be got online easily enough or buy anti vibration mat. Only time I got a droning noise when the back case fan was exhausting so reverse it for intake to get rid of the droning noise due to lack of space between the back case and the heatsink c12p se14 with the redux 140mm almost sitting close to the back case fan which causes the turbulence in the air flow

This monstrosity Asus ProArt PA602 593x245x560 mm with 2 Fans 200x38 from Noctua.

I want these for an ATX case. Put 2 at the front, 360AIO top and a 140mm back. :respect:

Not like my NZXT Phantom 530 that can hold 3 200mm fans one on the front and two at the top and 140mm at thr back for maximum air flow and silent at the same time can house 360 rad on top and 240 rad in front and 120 rad at the back and bottom 240 rad and 120 on the side panel if I wanted to go this route would be insane. That would add up to about 1080mm of rads combined for alot of cooling passively if I had the funds to build it

I don't use Redux fans in my main system, but I will say that my NF-A14s and NF-A15s do have a sort of resonance at a certain speed that gets really annoying. Sort of a pulsating humming sound.

My current solution is to set up my fan curve to avoid that specific speed.

The A14s also make a weird clicking noise from time to time.

I'm very mixed on Noctua overall... I'm a complete silence freak and I got them because they're known for how quiet they are. They are quiet, but I'm not sure about quality control on them.

That the thing about certain cases they vibrate with certain fans due to imbalanced fan blades don't matter if they are cheap or expensive they all do it to a certain speed. That why I limit the rpm overall to get it somewhat quiet and decent airflow. Unless someone stuff sound deadening foam tape all over the case to quieten the pc further but it never going to be quiet regardless
