not sure what direction i should choose

hi all coming from my system specs whats the best best upgrade i should take, a hd 5750/5770/5850, or swap this motherboard cause itrs not so good can only overclock cpu to 3.4ghz any higher would make this board would overheat real bad,, so should i upgrade from a 9600gt or upgrade motherboard to get a stable 3.8ghz t 1.5v, cause with my ma479 deluxe it was stable

If you're into gaming, a graphics card upgrade would give you the most benefit.

If you want to gaming, upgrade your GPU.

if you want to do other task, you can overclock your CPU, changing your motherboard also increase PC performance (but you need to buy an high end motherboard)

as long as you're using good heatsink (not intel stock cooling) don't worry about temperature, it's keep cooling until you're about to surpass 4 Ghz clock.

cooling is least of my worry i have a push a pull set up i get very good temps, its the board that overheats i dont trust it

On topic, CPU bottlenecking isn't really an issue at higher resolutions. Upgrade your GPU. 5850 is the top dog in high end bang for buck. Depends on your budget really.

well a 5850 is kinda of steap, would take me a few months to save up or should i get to a better motherboard, cause i plan on selling this whole system as compete then use my money to upgrade to intel

Not really. Most games are GPU-bound. That means that if you have some system (doesn't matter what) and you overclock the CPU, the frame rates won't increase that much. Even if you got a faster CPU, the frames won't go up by very much. However, for the same system, if you upgraded the GPU to a new card, you would see big gains in performance. In most situations with most games, it's better to have more GPU power. I would have a 5850 and a Athlon II before I had an Phenom II and a 5770 if my main concern was games. The Athlon + 5850 will beat the Phenom + 5770 most of the time.

So my advice I said earlier still stands. If you want to improve gaming performance, upgrade your GPU. You'll get more performance out of a 5770 than a 4GHz Phenom II.
