Oh interesting .. which OS? Are you running NVCleanstall in Safe Mode? (You shouldn't) Anything that makes your system special otherwise?

I have the same error message when trying to launch: "Error: Exception has been thrown by the target of invocation".

It opened previously, but I used the Display Driver Uninstall utility to remove previous nVidia drivers, as shown in Chris Titus Tech video, and then this error message popped up

[Reason]
Most likely it was because DDU removed the card from the Device manager completely and it was using only the "Microsoft Basic display driver", if I recall correctly.

[Solution]
I just "Updated the driver" through a right click, it grabbed an nVidia driver and the NVCleanstall launched fine after this.

But it was not the super-clean install though. Would be great if NVCleanstaller was able to launch without detecting the hardware first.

Are you running in Safe Mode or did you reboot?

Was not in safe mode, did reboot a couple of times. But found a (not ideal) solution - updated my post.

Aha, so the first option said something like "no driver found" ? Did you try the second option to manually select the driver version?

Do you mean in the NVCleanstaller? If so - it didn't even start at all, only the error window shown - there was nothing to select. Only after Device manager had my GPU recognised the NVCleanstaller launched fine.

Ah ok, I'll try to reproduce

Edit: no luck. Whatever I tried with DDU, NVCleanstall would always start fine

Was having the same problem. Found a solution. After using ddu, in device manager, display adapters appeared a new driver instead of the nvidia one (I don't remember the exact name of the driver) a vga driver or something like that and I just disabled it, after that I uninstalled it and it disappeared. After that driver was no longer present in device manager I started nvcleaninstall (with admin rights) again and it worked.

nice find. i think it was something with "basic vga driver" ?

Thank you to all those who shared their experience with this issue. I managed to get it running without updating the VGA driver by uninstalling it completely before running NVCleanstall.
