I am wondering something, perhaps the community would know, is it normal for nvida drivers to cause issues? like windows installs it (abeit a few versions behind) but when i install nvidia ones (updated ones) I have issues, Ive had to install them without internet just so windows wouldnt install there version, is this normal? does this happen often? am I doing something wrong?

When I upgrade the nvidia display driver I start the installation of the latest driver and choose custom and then "Perform a clean installation"

Personally I never have any issues with it.

If you change your Nvidia GPU to another generation then you can be sure the Windows 7 is quick to try download a new driver. Download the driver before you make the swap so you have it ready. That is at least my experience. Disconnect your internet before you start up after a GPU swap. Again based on Window 7 experience the drivers are stable. I'm sure that somebody else can add to this or even counter-dict :D

Blame the Windows Store integration. It is horrible and creates these problems by requiring a different version of the same driver.
