Hi! I have an acer aspire 5920g that had a nVidia 8600M GT 512Mb and this card died. I had bought from ebay a nVidia 9650M GT 1Gb and I put it on the laptop. My problem is that the system recognize the card as a typical adapter. I downloaded the nVidia drivers but in the check for compatible hardware stops telling me that no compatible hardware found. Why is this happening and how can I install properly the new graphic card?
Thank you for your time!

P.S. I updated the bios to the last version (3813) but still nothing.

Noone? Nothing?

Hi,

It seems the 96xxM GT series is not compatible with the Acer Aspire 5920g, but someone has made Acer MXM BIOS Mods for the mentioned notebook (and other Aspire notebooks) to fix that issue.

You can find more info here.

And beware of the risk of flashing a modified bios. Otherwise ask help and additional information over there at notebookreview about the MXM bios mod for your Acer notebook.

Hope it works for you.

Good luck.

Yeah I think that site is the place to for this kind of stuff.
