Is anyone else having problems with the current(546.33) drivers failing to install the control panel in Windows 10/11? Been having issues for a few weeks now.

Try 536.67 or any older driver if you don't need to use a game specific driver.

Don't forget that you see there is two version of the nvidia control panel one is dch version and one is the regular you have download the NVIDIA control panel using windows store app if you are using the dch version.

Since I haven't had any issues using the dch version a few months ago

Just did a fresh install of 546.33 on a fresh Win10 22H2 and it failed to install the control panel, told me it failed in the log, and on restart it popped up a notification to grab it from Win Update. Also getting some pretty nasty crashes on Baldur's Gate 3 with the newest driver, so going to just roll back.

That's exactly what it's been doing here. What version did you go back to?

Well I tried 537.58 but upon installing the driver it has now destroyed the Start menu, and NVIDIA Control Panel is still absent. Seemingly since 526 the control panel is no longer included in the install. Not sure why this broke the Start menu but that may be unrelated? Was working fine before I rolled back with a clean install.

?!? Weird! I did not experience that one.

Seemingly since 526 the control panel is no longer included in the install.
WTH?!? Are they doing that "force everyone to the store" crap again?

Not sure why this broke the Start menu but that may be unrelated? Was working fine before I rolled back with a clean install.
It could also be a serious glitch.

EDIT:
I'm trying a fresh install again with 537.58. Will try 526.98 after that.

EDIT2:
Both of the above versions failed but 532.03 seems to work fine. So maybe 532.03 was a cut-off?

Just a heads up, this is no longer applicable. Standard model drivers are no longer released. They stopped them with the r470 branch alongside Kepler and Windows 7 support. All driver releases since that have been exclusively of the DCH type.

Oddly enough this can occur because of GPU drivers, I've had this before with the AMD driver. At the time I also found a "fix" for it (until it happened again), and that was to do a full restart through the command prompt by shutdown -r -t 0, this being valid even if you have fast startup disabled. Something about using shutdown and normally restarting must differ because by doing the latter, the problem persisted.

DCH version on my laptop and the control panel works fine on Windows 11 here.
Maybe try a clean install (the driver's option, not any third party thing like DDU) then use the Microsoft Store to install the control panel ?
If it doesn't work or if you've put to much "personal security" in your Windows settings you can try :
CMD admin : SFC /scannow
THEN
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Reboot and see, if it's still broken, reinstall with the clean install ticked and get the control panel again from the Store.

My bet is on a piece of background software halting/screwing the installation.

As one of many examples:
FanControl does not play nice if it gets auto-started whilst installing NVIDIA drivers

The ms store is not accessible and installing from the store is not an option. The NVidia control panel should be included with the drivers.

So as stated above in an edit, 532.03 installed without issue. Nothing later worked.

@ Nvidia
WTAF?!? Try to remember, some systems do NOT have access to the microsoft store and in some cases, the internet. The control panel is a required part of the drivers for your products. It needs to ALWAYS be included with the drivers to account for such use-case-scenarios. You can not assume internet access or access to the ms store will always be available or allowed.

It is included and is extracted at C:\NVIDIA\DisplayDriver\546.33\Win11_Win10-DCH_64\International\Display.Driver\NVCPL\1b860afc09e945aea8b23a02423446e6.appx

But if you disabled appx support entirely on your machine then it will not work

Then your best bet is to create a package of a desired driver version via NVCleanstall. That should work just fine. Unless, as noted above, you completely killed UWP support somehow, which seems unnecessary.

It’s kinda necessary if one wants to use GSync/GSync compatibility properly or wants access to stuff like DLDSR or NVidias decent frame limiter without a hassle. Running an NVidia GPU without the CP is inane. The Inspector is an additional useful tool, not a replacement.

That should all be in profile inspector. As well as forcing SLI and so forth.

It is, but it’s clunky and I am not sure if it properly integrates with VRR optimizations that MS added in 10 and especially 11. Again, this is jumping through hoops for absolutely no reason. The Inspector should be used if you want to do something specific to a specific app, not as an overall control interface for GPU features. It was never made to be one. But if you want to tinker and micromanage everything - be my guest.

Okay, then the NVCleanstall method will definitely work, you just need to create a package on a machine with internet access and take it to the one you’re trying to install on. I just recently installed my drivers in this way and it just worked. The internet cable was unplugged during the whole thing.
If you don’t have a spare PC with connection to the net, then this is a bit trickier.

Hi,
You might need to get the package with nvclean then seeing you're installing without internet.

Of course. That's what it's designed for.

Though I'm sure if clunky I'd a good description. I've never had an issue optimizing with profile inspector. There are older versions that won't work well with newer cards, so that matters too.

Just trying to give alternatives.

@lexluthermiester, have you updated your fresh installation? W11 right?
