I modded the missing eprom chip onto the p5200. But the Nvidia driver modding drives me crazy.

Im trying to get the driver to work but with no success. Recently in my desperation I just put all my failed to work inf in the Nvidia 442.92 driver folder. it say it fails but in device Manager the Card shows up for the First Time. P5200 “device is working Properly”
In GPU-Z everything seems to be picked of right. But the driver is showing 425.30 I never installed that driver.

Please help me!!!!!!

Thank you very much.

You probably have the 425.30 drivers somewhere on your system, and it picks those for some reason. does it show which oem.inf file in device manager?

Doesn't Nvidia directly block modded eproms somehow.
They block Modding bios quite effectively.
I'm not sure what he means by mod though to be honest.

Thank you for trying to help me.
It’s oem6.inf

The p5200 don’t have a vbios on Card it’s bios is on the Mainboard of Supported PCs.
I soldered that missing eprom Chip onto the Card and flashed Original Vbios on it (MSI).

Well that's impressive:), I'm not sure I know how to help you though personally ,short of force installing the later driver in device manager then trying to run pre quadroforce, older driver's setup.

Thank you theoneandonly

Please anybody help me

Thank you wizard,

there is no DCH indication.
Check attached file.

thank you

You messed up the SUBSYS_ID somehow. 11FF is missing in driver.

Add the "new" GPU in following sections in nvmiwi.inf

Code:
[NVIDIA_Devices.NTamd64.10.0...14310]
%NVIDIA_DEV.1BB5.11FF.1462% = Section120, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1BB5&SUBSYS_11FF1462

[NVIDIA_Devices.NTamd64.10.0...16299]
%NVIDIA_DEV.1BB5.11FF.1462% = Section120, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1BB5&SUBSYS_11FF1462

[NVIDIA_Devices.NTamd64.10.0]
%NVIDIA_DEV.1BB5.11FF.1462% = Section120, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1BB5&SUBSYS_11FF1462

[Strings]
DiskID1 = "NVIDIA Windows 10 (64 bit) Driver Library Installation Disk 1"
FLG_ADDREG_KEYONLY = 0x00000010
NVIDIA = "NVIDIA"
NVIDIA_A = "NVIDIA"
NVIDIA_DEV.1BB5.11FF.1462 = "NVIDIA Quadro P5200"

Hi Stefan M,

thank you I did that modification last week but if I try to install the driver it don’t boot into windows anymore (black screen)

I just go over my file and found one little mistake don’t know if this was cousing the black screen.

The section of this line was 119
%NVIDIA_DEV.1BB5.11FF.1462% = Section119, PCI\VEN_10DE&DEV_1BB5&SUBSYS_11FF1462

i changed it to 120 everything else is as you suggested.

The other P5200 use sections 119, 120, 121 and 122 you can try.
Hard to say what's the best for you.

Out of curiousity:
is the SUBSYS ID everywhere the same, eg in device manager/system devices/PCIE controller/hardware ID ?

Driver installed successfully it was the one mistake section 119 instead of 120.

oem6.inf is now oem7.inf.

oem6.inf gave me almost instant crashes if trying gaming.

if this is the fix to my problems you have earned the 15€ as promised.

I will test stability in a game.

Unfortunately still almost instant Crash this is the EventID. But at least the newest driver is installed thanks to StefanM. Any sugestions on solving that error ?

Get the INTEL chipset driver from your MSI support page and re-install it.
The system devices share the SUBSYS_ID with the GPU.

Thank you Stefan,

i ddu the Nvidia driver to do a fresh install after that same as before black screen no boot into Windows desktop.

then I reinstalled the messed up driver. And update this with the corrected Modded Driver successfully. But it crashed imidietly after game Start.

I don’t use the MSI Card in a MSI Laptop.
I use Clevo. Regarding intel Chipset driver i use the one from eurocom for my Laptop.

Hi@all,

I can’t get the driver stable. It freezes.
Event log is fluded with “whea Corrected Error” prior Freeze there is allways a uncorrected error. Any ideas to solve that driver related issue ? @StefanM im using a MSI p5200 in a Clevo Laptop.
3DMark Stresstest don’t Crash only Games crashing.

Please help.

Thank you all

Mixing brands explains why original drivers don't work:
"Both PNP ID and ACPI ID consist of two parts: a Vendor ID, followed by a product identifier. Each manufacturer of these devices must be assigned an industry-unique Vendor ID...
The Device Manufacturer is responsible for assigning this identifier to each individual product MODEL. Once an identifier is assigned to a product model, it must not be assigned to any other product model manufactured by the same company (that is, that uses the same Vendor ID)."

WHEA hardware error events are listed -> here

Reduce GPU clocks with MSI Afterburner
Try drivers from different branches (R440, R445, R450, R455)

Thank you StefanM,

your suggestions did helped me making some progress.

But unfortunately I believe it’s a Bios compatibility issue. That is also causing instability in drivers and Install process especially on demanding Games (unplayable)

my Bios is locked. Settings don’t apply in Afterburner, it resets back to default.

Do you know anybody that could unlock my Vbios ?

This meight help me.

Thank you for all your help !

Hi StefanM,

I already took a look at pascal tdp tweaker. I used it to mod 115w Clevo maxq Vbios to 140w. It works now no crashes but it Clocks down and up constantly. The temps are between 68-75 in demanding Games maxed out. The throtheling is not a thermal issue.

I just changed the max tdp from 115 to 140w I didn’t changed anything else. I believe I need to edit more settings to stop throtheling If temperatures are under 80*c.

unfortunetly I can’t find a proper guide what the Other settings do.

so yes the p5200 works now after 3 Month of Work. Thank you for all your suggestions it did helped me to do some progress.

I need to stop throtheling under 80*c. Then I’m happy.

Can you elaborate on the process and component to add the EPROM to nvidia P5200.
I have a quadro P5200 N18E-Q5-A1, I am trying to make it work in a m6800.
Please reply.

Hello,
Could you furnish me with the vBIOS you used. Thank you.

The P5200 will not normally work in the Dell Precision M6800 even with a vBIOS EEPROM soldered on. There was never an engineering sample BIOS that was leaked. I have an M6800 and spent ages trying to reverse engineer why the PX000 cards worked with these specific vBIOSes and eventually was able to successfully mod the BIOS to get it to work, all be it Optimus was required to be on or else it would fail to boot. But if you connected an external display, you would be connected directly to the P5200. If you are even still on here and interested, I can see if I can find the laptop, It's in storage, I never got rid of it because that was the first BIOS I ever modded and it has sentimental value to me. Just let me know, and have a great day!
