@W1zzard: This is an example of XF destroying FTP links. It seems to like removing the ":" between the "ftp" and "//".

Workaround in quotes: triple-click and "save link as"

It has been that way for a while. Do they not care or something because this seems like a pretty stupid bug to just leave there.
