NVIDIA Releases First Internal Performance Benchmarks for RTX 2080 Graphics Card

NVIDIA today released their first official performance numbers for their new generation of GeForce products - particularly, the RTX 2080. The RTX 20 series of graphics cards, according to the company, offers some 50% performance improvements (on average) on architectural improvements alone, in a per-core basis. This number is then built upon with the added RTX performance of the new RT cores, which allows the RTX 2080 to increase its performance advantage over the last generation 1080 by up to 2x more - while using the new DLSS technology. PUBG, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, and Final Fantasy XV are seeing around 75 percent or more improved performance when using this tech.

NVIDIA is also touting the newfound ability to run games at 4K resolutions at over 60 FPS performance, making the RTX 2080 the card to get if that's your preferred resolution (especially if paired with one of those dazzling OLED TVs...) Of course, IQ settings aren't revealed in the slides, so there's an important piece of the puzzle still missing. But considering performance claims of NVIDIA, and comparing the achievable performance on last generation hardware, it's fair to say that these FPS scores refer to the high or highest IQ settings for each game.

Why are actual reviews of the cards under NDA still?

As excited as I am to see Ray tracing finally making it to consumer products, the fact that Nvidia made the cards available for pre-order before any reviews by respected 3rd party websites have gone up doesn't bode well.

I know pre-orders will only be a very small percentage of final sales numbers for the lifetime of this cards, but I can't honestly remember the last time this was done, was it in GTX 6x00 era? Not a rhetorical question, I can't remember the last time Nvidia cards went on sale before reviews were available, and I have had Nvidia cards all the way back to the Riva TNT

well ... that will not make me choose (or like) 4K more, since 4k screen will probably still have an obscene pricing (unless going for import brand, well the toll fee will still kill it for me ) and since a 2080Ti has also a idiotic pricing thanks Nvidia to put the MSRP almost at the level of what i see as actual 1080Ti pricing (which means it will be 25-30% above MSRP for me ahah) once they are out, but that will probably enable my computer to get above 60fps in 1440p/1620p

well ... IF... i was thinking to upgrade with a 20XX ... but by the price incoming ... i'd rather not

i will stay positive ... maybe it will lower the price of the 1080/80Ti or Vega 64

I didn't say I trust them, that was more of say what you see kinda deal.

Besides, if remotely true it fits the recent history of the next gen XX80 part edging out the previous gen XX80 Ti.

It's all normalized to 1 unit.

It's the latter I'm afraid, it's just supposed to show an (alleged) performance increase in percentage in each respective title at 4K relative to the GTX 1080.

Its just one of nvidias own grafs and i have learned that these are not totally accurate at times. Just look at gtx 1080 performance. Its the same for all games.

Sarcasm aside, did you read my whole post? The hardware was available for pre-order on the 20th, like I said, I don't remember the last time Nvidia hardware was available for pre-order before reviews went up.

300W+ under load I bet throw in overclocking and you might scratch 350-400W
