Just got a new 2.0ghz AMD64 athlon venice socketh 939, and MSI RD480 Neo2-FI, im going to be testing some overclock and posting my results here.

As i have never had a motherboard that would let me overclock the cpu before my knowledge is someone limeted on the procedure.

If someone could post a very therough Guide which explains overlocking, FSB, multipliers, Voltage, ram timings. id apreciate it alot.

Alright few hours passed, few new things learned.

I currently have my cpu @ 2.5ghz thats a 500mhz (25%) increase, my rams frequency is 209mhz and timers are 2.5 3 3 7 T1.

My HT clock is 1250!

i know this is too high but i cant find any option to lower the multiplier...the only option give is HT frequency: auto or 200mhz.

if i use one my HT is 1250mhz, if i use the other HT is 250mhz. WTH would they let me change everything but the HT multiplier on this motherboard? there does not seem to be any change at all in stability or performance between the HT being 1250, or 250....someone pls explain this.

ou wont have performance drops with a low htt but you will have instability with a higher htt so drop it down

im not finding a difference in performance or stability. It may be overheating my nortbridge and i dont know it, so im keeping it to 250.

You dont think its wierd the only option is 250 or 1000? (if i werent overclocking)

I am very please with my first ever CPU overclocking experience. The only problem ive had the entire time is i cant locate the multiplier option for the hyper transport so its either running at 1250mhz or 250mhz. Running at 1250 gives me some pretty obvious stability problems... source engine reports my processor as being a 5024mhz AMD and i lose audio support from my nortbridges onboard azalia. Running HT at 250mhz seems to not cause any bottleneck in my system whatsoever, and system runs stable, so ill leave it at 250mhz untill i can find the multiplier settings. I have updated my system specs to reflect my new rig.

Another problem has occured, i was forced to reset bios to default as i lost display 2/5 boot tries.

EDIT: i upped the PCI-E and northbridge by .5V, seems to be stable now.
