You read that right, if these numbers are to be believed, we’re looking at GTX 1080 performance in the mid-range with Turing. And not any GTX 1080 at that, but an overclocked GTX 1080. If this leaked 3DMark entry is legitimate, it indicates that what we’ve heard about the GTX 2060 from AdoredTV’s source is actually true. Both in terms of the 5GB GDDR6 memory and the GTX prefix for the 2060.

I can't see this being true, there will be a lot of pissed 1080 users out there if that was the case, also don't they usually release the higher end first ie 2080/2070 and then come the mid range? 2060 which I believe is slated for an october launch if my memory serves me, would be there a working 2060 out in the wild being leaked before the 2080?

I mean, is this really a surprise or shock? It has been this way for ages. Current mid end is usually as fast as last gen high end. Current low end is as fast as last gen mid end. And this repeats every year. They are just shifting ranges. It's the same with basically all devices like smartphones or LCD TV's.

Just 27% faster than GTX 1060 isn't some marvelous jaw-dropping "OMG!" result. It's acceptable, but not as good as transition from Maxwell to Pascal where, for instance, GTX 1060 6GB was more than 70% faster than GTX 960 4GB.

But seriously, how do you let yourself be 1.5 generations behind. Since Raja is gone, it's like RTG doesn't even exist. They better have a damn good reason to be quiet. No announcement when the hell is Vega 20 going to be revealed and it's going to take even longer to buy those cards.

At least they have some idea on how new GeForce is performing, so they know what they gotta do. Either beat them on pricing, performance or both.

To be fair, even you know it wasn't always that way. The last decent card IMO was the 290X.
