Okay guys i just got my new pc to boot and i have 2 hard drives one with vista and xp and one with just files like videos ect. So to save money i decided to the one with out an os in my new pc. Thing was that i decided i wouldnt need xp on my old pc so i deleted it from the boot menu (vista worked after that) and then i deleted the xp partition. So i just resized the vista partition and made it a primary partition (before it was logical).

Now it would load, soon as the pc boots after the bios ect it just comes up a line blinking at the top of the screen like there is no data on the disk.

Thing was so that i could try to fix it i got out on old 20gb hard drive which im using and installed xp turns out all the data is still on the vista drive so what i need to know is how to get it to boot.

Is there some way of changing a boot file or do i have to reinstall vista thing is i dont want to reinstall as all my work and music games ect would be gone :(

go into the cd, go to the recovery console and type fixboot, it'll fix up your boot.ini file. if that doesn't work, you may need to repair your vista installation.
