is there away to unninstall an operating system from a harddrive without formatting it.
eg. you have an OS installed on a HDD then you get an SSD and want to install the OS on that.

Your talking about XP right?

If so...

Just modify the "boot.ini" in msconfig.

What I recommend is install the new O/S on the new SSD drive first, then modify the "boot.ini" by deleting the line that contains the old O/S.

im on vista but thanks anyway

same thing still...

run "msconfig" > Boot

Do it now to see how it looks. It will make sense then.

Why 'uninstall'?

Just install on the second drive, transfer data, activate Windows, then wipe the old drive.

I don't get what you're trying to do...
